Then the FDA Board of Inquiry revoked the petition for approval which you can read on the banner on www.mpwhi.com You know the rest of the story.   G. D. Searle hired Don Rumsfeld to get it marketed.  He was on President Reagan's transition team and he said he would "call in his markers and get it approved".  Rumsfeld had no concern about the safety to the public.  Someone from the transition team called FDA Commissioner  Dr. Jere Goyan, at 3:00 AM according to the letter I have from his wife, and fired him.  President Reagan then wrote an executive order, also mentioned by his wife, that made the FDA powerless to do anything about aspartame until they could get a new commissioner.  So Dr. Goyan could not sign the revoked petition into law.  Reagan knew it would take 30 days to get a new Commissioner to the FDA.  

A Rumsfeld friend, Dr. Arthur Hull Hayes, was selected who over-ruled the Board of Inquiry and put this deadly, deadly addictive chemical poison, a literal excitoneurotoxic, carcinogenic, genetically engineered, seizure causing, blinding,  abortifacient, endocrine disrupting drug and teratogen on the market for human consumption.  Dr. Hayes then left the FDA while being investigated for impropriety, and went to work for the PR Agency of the manufacturer, Burson Marsteller for $1000.00 a day on a ten year contract.  A very old article said he was never there more than 15 days.  Quite a reward.

Immediately after approval of aspartame  the public began to complain of going blind, having seizures, MS, lupus, etc. and it led to the congressional hearings.  Senator  Howard Metzenbaum wrote a bill to put a moratorium on aspartame while the National Institutes of Health did studies on some of the complaints from the public such as what it does to the fetus, behavioral problems, especially in children, seizures, etc.  Senator Orrin Hatch wouldn't even allow these congressional hearings until 1985.  I have a TV interview where Senator Metzenbaum says to Hatch, "Orrin, its going to be too late".  He was given money by Monsanto, and the bill never got out of committee.  Yet Congress heard all the complaints even by victims and did nothing.  However, those funded by the manufacturer like the American Diabetes Assn told Congress it was safe.  

Yet, as Dr. H. J. Roberts, diabetic specialist has said from the beginning, (also written in Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic) that aspartame not only can precipitate diabetes, simulates and aggravates diabetic retinopathy and neuropathy, destroys the optic nerve, causes diabetics to go into convulsions and even interacts with insulin.  It's the methanol that causes them to lose their limbs.

I'm glad I was able to attain the information Jerome Bressler wanted so badly.  Even in a nursing home when he could get around he would tell anyone drinking a diet pop, "please don't drink that, aspartame is poison".  He never told them  he worked for the FDA.  When Dr. Madelon Price sent me the information Dr. Olney had It was returned to the Bressler Report which you can read on www.mpwhi.com on the front page on a banner.  Lane Shore then took to Jerome his report with the information added back.  I'm so happy we could give it to him prior to his death.  His life like Dr. H. J. After this the FDA knowing the information was now public finally released four more studies to Dr. Woodrow Monte under Freedom of Information and he wrote his book.  Remember on www.whilesciencesleeps.com you can read the last chapter which goes into aspartame and the autism epidemic.  You will also find out Dr. Monte's  house was blown up, with him in it.  It is fortunate he survived.

Dr. James Bowen who used aspartame and has Lou Gehrigs is now in a VA Hospital.  He wrote the FDA over a quarter of a century ago telling them it was mass poisoning of the US and more than 70 countries of the world.  Today its over 100 and unless Codex bans it, and they don't want to, it can be in countries where it is not yet approved. Jehovah God help us.

Dr. Bowen told me the FDA after receiving his letter  (In its entirety in this letter from Dr. Bowen to Senator Ortiz y Pino: http://www.wnho.net/letter_to_senator_goyp_concerning_aspartame.htm sent an agent to his office who was very upset he wrote the letter.  He said he gave her 29 more cases of aspartame disease which she really did not want to take.  You just can't get the Fatal Drugs Allowed folks to care the least about the  public.

It is of interest that while doing a radio show in Florida a translator, Norma Vera, called in to say she translated studies by G. D. Searle that were done in 6 countries.  It was almost 20 years ago.  She gave me an affidavit later telling me they used people from poor villages that would not be missed.  Some she said got brain tumors, some had grand mal seizures, the pregnant woman hemorrhaged and lost her baby, and then disappeared and it turned the brain to mush in her words.  She also said it hardened the synovial fluids which account for so much joint pain, what is thought to be rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia.  It's all in Dr. Roberts medical text and he wrote position papers on this and other problems.  

Not knowing as much about aspartame two decades ago I mentioned to a toxicologist this story and he laughed and said, "You mean you don't know that Big Pharma and Big Chem always do studies in foreign countries where people won't find out about them, so they will know how much they have to pay off Congress if they are dangerous.  I later did find out when a scientist who once worked for Coke told me all he did was translate studies from other countries, and they were bad on aspartame.  The studies Norma Vera did were around 1984 when they had an office in Florida.  She said they closed their office after seeing the results and went back to Illinois.  In 1985 they sold to Monsanto.  That's really when Don Rumsfeld got his reward, about 12 million.

Before Dr. Roberts died:  http://www.mpwhi.com/h_j_roberts_has_died.htm he left me  his 30 years of research on aspartame.  There is only one piece of the puzzle I have wondered about, and that is what did Dr. Gross do at the EPA so fired up against aspartame being approved.  In 2010 my husband and I met a pathologist by the name of Reginall Bundrage.  I tried my best to inform him about aspartame but was always met with the same reply:  "I know more than you do about aspartame".  Finally I said, "How do you know more?"  Then he told me the story of how he worked for the EPA in the early 1990's in an department having to do with aspartame.  It's obvious since he's a pathologist what he was doing, as he told me about all the formaldehyde.  He said, "Betty, I told my superiors in the early 1990's that aspartame should be removed from the market because it is killing so many people.  I was told the FDA would probably remove it because it couldn't stay on the market being the killer it is.  Here it is 2010 and its still on the market."  He gave me permission to tell his story.  Dr. Adrian Gross also had a degree in pathology.  I've always wondered  since did Dr. Gross start this department at the EPA, and why this department is kept secret from the public.

When you think the story can't get much worse, and remember I have been taking the case histories of the sick and dying for over two decades it does.  People are so versed today in the harm aspartame causes they avoid it.  So the Dairy people have petitioned the FDA to cut down the labeling on aspartame.  You know it has to be labeled and have a PKU warning because its so deadly to phenylketurnics who can't metabolize phenylalanine.  Remember that the phenylalanine in aspartame is not 4% or 5% like in meat or milk but 50% of the aspartame molecule, and isolated without the other amino acids in protein,  absolutely neurotoxic. So over 100,000 people complain to the FDA and what does the FDA do but write and say the public is confused.  The notice said for instance in the case of chocolate milk which might say "reduced calories".  That's a warning to stay away from it as it can contain aspartame.  The FDA says now it would just say "chocolate milk".  The dairy people want reduced labeling for 17 different dairy products.  Dr. Stuart Pape of the National Soft Drink Association in the past has petitioned to allow aspartame in yogurt unlabeled twice.  He knows how deadly aspartame is because he use to work for the National Soft Drink Assn.

So again our children are targeted, now in school.

Ajinomoto has petitioned the FDA to even approve another aspartame product called Advantame, and its already approved in Australia and by the European Food Safety Authority.  Yet EFSA knows how deadly aspartame is and has been told and told and told, and sent records.  The first time they did a review and said aspartame is safe even Parliament told them to do it again because all the studies coming out show cancer, pre-term births, strokes, heart attacks, etc.   Jim McDonald of the UK Aspartame Awareness Campaign has been all over EFSA over the fact that the methanol in aspartame is 35 times too high, and the review result has been detained.  Indeed almost 100% of "independent" scientific peer  review studies have shown the problems aspartame causes.  

Only studies done by the manufacturers to defend aspartame and those they pay,  have ever said aspartame was safe.  However, half the committee of EFSA is compromised by links to industry. If they have approve Advantame then they are aiming at again saying aspartame is safe.  If they do it again they should be shut down just like the  UK Commission  on food after its review saying aspartame was safe.  Turns out there was no committee that made the decision but only one person.  Anybody want to guess his connections? The aspartame industry has strong ties to agencies throughout the world as we have found out.

Only this morning I turned on the news to find out about another shooting, this time the Naval Yard.  I've always wondered whenever there has been one of these shootings what the person or persons consumed.  Dr. Roberts always said "when you see children killing children you have to consider aspartame".  With the depletion of serotonin aspartame  triggers psychiatric and behavioral problems and interacts with "all" antidepressants.  Many may remember the woman who drowned her 5 children some years ago.  On TV she was drinking a Diet Coke and taking Haldol.  I asked psychiatric, Dr. Ralph Walton, a psychiatrist and aspartame expert.  He said it was a double whammy.

Recently, Coke has decided to do a campaign to say aspartame in Coke is safe.   I've been writing about their PR people for years. http://www.wnho.net/cokes_aspartame_campaign_to_bring_you_pain.htm Have they lost their mind this time.  Didn't they realize with people poisoned from it, and over 30 years of research on the Internet on aspartame they would wonder why Coke was doing this with full public knowledge of its toxicity.  They have really stirred up a hornet's nest with people writing on their campaign.  Thanks to a proxy from the Killer Coke people  I attended Coke's stockholder meeting.  Yes, I got to speak to the CEO of Coke, face to face, and I held up Dr. Roberts 1000 page huge medical text, "Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic" in front of maybe 1000 stockholders.  Don't you think those stockholders want to know why a product in Diet Coke and their other products  has a medical text about it calling it an ignored epidemic?
