- I was watching the Daily Show (Jon Stewart) when Jon
showed a clip of Bush meeting with Israel's Olmert. The Prime Minister
practically tried to drape Bush around his shoulders. A Hebrew newspaper
described the display as an 'embrassing amount of obsequiousness, flattery
and sweet talk". Speaking English, Mr. Olmert turned to Bush and said,
"When I look at you, and I know what you have to take upon your shoulders
and how you do it, the manner in which you do it, th courage you have,
the determination that you have and your loyalty to the principles that
you believe in, it makes all of us feel that, you know, we can also -
in trying to match you, which we can't - we can move forward."

- He then THANKED Bush for the increase of funds to Israel
to the tune of $30 BILLION dollars.

- I watched our major news stations and NONE of them showed
the part of Olmert giving thanks for this $30 BILLION. I personally don't
care if it's Israel or Austria, etc...but why in God's name are we giving
BILLIONS to a country with a life style that exceeds that of many European
countries?

- Israel is the approximate size of New Hampshire. It has
a population of five million. These BILLIONS are all 'borrowed.' Here we
have millions losing their homes - millions losing their jobs - food pantries
running short - home heating oil/food/fuel etc at all time highs. Seniors
cannot afford medicine and 50 million can't afford health care and we're
giving $30 BILLION to a small country that can well afford to see to their
own needs.

- We hear the term BILLION and have no comprehension. A
stack on just ONE BILLION (not thirty) dollar bills one could lay down
a band seventy bills wide long the full length of the Trans- Alaska pipeline
twice and still have $140,000 left over. If one sat down to count ONE billion
dollar billions and could count them at the rate of one per second every
second of every day, it would take more than thirty years to finish the
task. No wonder we have people living under bridges - in tents and dying
of hypothermia in homes they can't heat. Pretty sad when you have to watch
the COMEDY channel for the 'news.' -JM
