- Did the Vortex classified satellite (launched
by the Titan IV rockets, the same rockets used in the Cassini project)
that exploded over Florida last week have any plutonium on board? If so,
this would make it (if the rumored 20-25 pounds of plutonium 238 is indeed
accurate) the single largest nuclear accident in the history of the United
States.
-
- One problem with the whole story is that
the now primary source is rather dubious one at best. The "Deep Throat"
in this case, a reputed project engineer for either NASA or the Air Force,
had sent a voice-mail message to an anti-Cassini group in North Carolina.
In his comments, he makes some rather bold declarations that, if true,
mean a virtual major holocaust is imminent from the accident. According
to Russell D. Hoffman of the Stop Cassini Newsletter, the info from the
Vortex Deep Throat is scientifically incorrect and reeks of disinformation.
The idea, Hoffman believes, is to raise a major panic over this in certain
quarters, then to have the panic and accusations discredited. Having
said that, Hoffman does believe that plutonium was on the Vortex payload.
However, he suspects that the accident, while it should cause some deaths,
will be a "silent holocaust", in that the deaths will be small
enough in numbers to be statistically insignificant, and thus be able to
be hidden and suppressed. That seems quite possible and disturbing, the
idea that the truth could be quietly swept under the rug. If such was
the case, a panic mongering story would support this sweep up, causing
a hysteria that could later be used to smear any accusation of nuclear
payloads on the Vortex or any deaths caused by it.
-
- If causing a panic is the goal of the
Vortex Deep Throat, then he has used the right medium for his message.
He has since appeared on the Art Bell radio show, the P.T. Barnum of the
Paranormal (in both the best and worst sense.) Art Bell, of course, is
perhaps most well known for having on his show Major Ed Dames and Courtney
Brown during preliminary (and apparently false) reports of a companion
to the Hale-Bopp comet. Dames and Brown proceeded to use "remote
viewing" to predict all sorts of apocalyptic affects caused by the
comet or its "companion". Needless to say, this didn't happen.
At the time of Dames and Brown's extraordinary claims, a respectable paranormal
researcher looked at the evidence, and informed Bell that the predictions
were fraudulent. Bell, according to sources, replied he didn't care, and
refused to let the other researcher appear on the show to give the opposing
evidence. After all, he reportedly said, "This is good radio."
-
- Still, there are good arguments for the
claim that plutonium was indeed used. One is from the ABC report originally
cited in The Konformist: "Journalists and observers near the launch
site were immediately hustled onto buses and evacuated after the explosion."
This after: "The rocket, launched at 7:30 a.m. EDT, blew up at 20,000
feet over the Atlantic Ocean... The Air Force says all of the debris fell
into the ocean." What is the need for an evacuation, then? Reportedly
by good sources, people were also advised not to handle any Vortex debris.
Hmm, pretty suspicious.
-
- Then there is this passage, showing an
Orwellian level of non-logic: "The lost payload,
which contained no radioactive substances, reportedly cost $1
billion. The Air Force did not release any details about the payload, and
a spokeswoman at the reconnaissance agency
declined comment." If the Air Force didn't release any details on
the payload, and the spokeswoman declined comment, then how can ABC state
the payload contained no radioactive substances? (I suppose they could
have remote viewed it.)
-
- One of the many interesting facts of
the Cassini Project was that the 72 pounds of plutonium 238 were uncovered
only by the diligent use of the Freedom of Information Act by Karl Grossman.
They only revealed this fact when they had to, which leads to the scary
(and quite likely) scenario that nuclear payloads are the rule and not
the exception on NASA satellites, and that this is suppressed by NASA.
If that is the case (and many believe it is) then it isn't an unreasonable
assumption in regards to the Vortex.
-
- I have faxed a message to Art Bell on
the Vortex, and given him both the phone number and web address of both
Russell Hoffman and myself. Needless to say, based on Bell's history of
choosing "good radio" over good investigation, I won't hold my
breath until either of us appears on the show. He may, however, have David
John Oates do a "Reverse Speech" analysis to uncover the "truth".
-
- One thing is sure: don't expect NASA
or the Pentagon to tell the truth on this one quite willingly. And don't
expect Slick Willie to be forthright on this unless the truth becomes so
obvious that he has no choice but to spill the beans (sound familiar?)
And certainly don't expect the Korporate Media, who has much money tied
into the nuclear industry, to due any decent investigation any time soon.
Which is the irony here: even if there wasn't a nuclear payload on the
Vortex, because of their pathological disdain for the truth, it would be
foolish to take the claims of those denying at face value.
-
- The Konformist will continue giving reports
on the real investigation of the Vortex explosion, and will continue posting
Russell Hoffman's reports on the subjects. If Hoffman and others do come
to the conclusion that there was no plutonium on the Vortex, we will report
that as well, but we will have no regrets about raising the question in
the first place. Considering the history of deception and contempt for
the public by those we are pointing the finger at, and the lack of investigative
skills by the Korporate Media, the questions and accusations seem highly
appropriate.

- To: Ted Turner, CNN From: Russell D.
Hoffman, Editor STOP CASSINI newsletter Re: Alleged CNN report Date: 8/23/98
-
- To Mr. Turner:
-
- Regarding the TITAN IVA military spy
satellite rocket which blew up on August 12th, 1998 over Florida, I have
heard reports from what I believe to be reliable sources that there was
at least one early report which was broadcast on CNN which indicated that
there was a radioactive payload for this secret mission.
-
- What is the followup to that report?
Were they referring to RHU's or RTGs or some other nuclear payload?
Has any Government spokesmen unequivocally denied that there was a nuclear
payload? Because "Not that I know of" is not unequivocal, but
that is what my sources tell me was the official spokesperson's official
statement regarding the matter. Do you have anything more definite than
plausible deniability?
-
- I wish to have a transcript of that report,
if it exists, and I wish to know the time and date when the report was
broadcast and the name of, and contact information for, the reporter, and
of course, I would like to know where the reporter got the information
presented, and if there is any additional information which was not presented,
I would like that too.
-
- I am acting as an Independent Council
without subpoena powers. Don't worry, it's just an act, I'm just a citizen
of the United States who is seeking the truth through finding, presenting
and analyzing all key pieces of information, and I am trying to find out
why there is a hoax being perpetrated on the American Public by someone
purporting to be a "project engineer" for the "VORTEX"
rocket.
-
- I hope you and your station's moral fortitude
will preclude ignoring this request, as the issue is as important as anything
you've actually wasted valuable airspace on in the last few weeks since
the accident. Something happened that is not being reported and we intend
to find out what. Maybe the hoax being perpetrated is the whole news, but
your information might help us determine that. Considering the damage
this loon is doing to the scientific considerations of America's nuclear-based
space program, this is news you should be reporting. It is vital to the
health and well-being of the planet that Americans and the world understand
the possible consequences of NASA and the U.S. military's nuclear policies.
-
- When you realize it's news, I would be
happy to present my opinion, if you wish to take it down for posterity
or for the evening news. (You can even have an exclusive, in trade for
the information I am seeking from you!)
-
- It is a matter of extreme importance
that we know what you reported and why, because, as I indicated in my most
recent newsletter (a copy of which I sent CNN this morning) someone is
going around saying there was a complete incineration of an RTG (Radioactive
Thermoelectric Generator) type of device on board. They have called Art
Bell, and NC-WARN (an environmental group in North Carolina) and possibly
others. What this person is doing is news.
-
- They might call you too! Have they?
The person claims to be a "project engineer". Don't be fooled!
He does not appear to be with any environmental organization that I have
heard from. Most likely he is either a "lone wolf" dis-information
specialist, or a government mischief-maker. I lean towards the latter
by about 100 to 1. The public deserves to know the truth. This is big,
ugly, and unAmerican. Don't ignore it.
-
- Please respond as quickly as possible
because rumors abound and we wish to know exactly what has been said, and
by whom. This guy I mentioned above appears to be a fake. Your help in
figuring out the truth -- and I'm referring to the WHOLE truth -- will
be greatly appreciated.
