-
- BURLINGTON, Wis. (AP) -- Three teen-agers were arrested in an alleged plot
to kill teachers and a group of students who picked on them, authorities
said today.
-
- An informant tipped police to the plot
and the boys, all between the ages of 15 and 16, were taken into custody
Sunday, police Detective Mike Wiskes said. They were scheduled to appear
in court today.
-
- Two other boys were questioned by police
and released.
-
- The teen-agers said they had targeted
"a specific list of students and teachers," Wiskes said.
-
- The adults targeted were Burlington High
School Principal Jose Martinez, another administrator and a teacher, police
said. The plot also included planned attacks on students who had picked
on the three boys, Assistant Police Chief Gary Large said.
-
- Martinez said the teen-agers had never
been involved in serious misconduct, just "normal misbehavior."
They were not known to be part of an organized gang, he said.
-
- "I am literally shocked," said
Burlington Mayor Jeannie Hefty. She added that Burlington, 25 miles southwest
of Milwaukee, is known as a safe, quiet community of 9,500.
