This is a summarized report from Circles Phenomenon Research Canada on current 1998 Canadian crop circle formations. Listed in order of discovery.

Additional ground investigation of the Conquest, Outlook and Cando circles was conducted by Gordon Sopczak, CPR-Canada and CCCS representative for Alberta. All circles have very nice spiral lay patterns, with the crop pressed hard to the ground. The circles themselves are still there, even after being combined, as the wheat in the circles is pressed very close to the ground, and therefore was not cut. The farmers at both sites have been very cooperative, as have local reporters.

The Conquest and Outlook circles were featured in a full page article, including colour ground photographs, in the August 27 issue of The Western Producer, one of Canada's Canada's leading agricultural publications, which constitutes a significant breakthrough in bringing this phenomenon to the serious attention of the mainstream farming, media and science communities in this country. There has also been other local media coverage of these formations, plus the Esterhazy dumbell and the Vanderhoof circles in particular.

Ground investigation of the Vanderhoof circles conducted by Chad Deetken. It is the first well-documented case of European-style (and quality) circles in this province. Unfortunately, I was not able to go myself due to full-time + work schedule. Investigations of these and other reports are on-going.

Conquest, Saskatchewan - August 9

Three circles close together. Two large circles, one small ring. In duram wheat. Largest about 33 feet. One circle has "cross" extending from it, in a south-west direction. All were beautifully spiralled. Very tight twist of crop in one circle. Crop pressed very hard to the ground. Farmer very cooperative, agreeable to further investigation, sampling. No tracks or prints found. Plant stalks undamaged. Soil beneath flattened wheat is undisturbed. Have been sampled for lab testing by Levengood / BLT.

Note: Photos were taken after circles were combined, as all circles were combined almost immediately.

Outlook, Saskatchewan - August 11

On Hutterite colony land. Six circles, largest about 44 feet. Four are in straight line. Four circles, two rings. In duram wheat. "Cross" feature also seen on at least one circle here as well, same orientation (south-west) as circle at Conquest. Again, beautiful spiral lay of crop. No tracks or prints found. Plant stalks undamaged. Soil beneath flattened wheat is undisturbed. Have been sampled for lab testing by Levengood / BLT.

Esterhazy, Saskatchewan - August 15

A large "triple dumbell" pattern in wheat was first found by the farmer on August 15. The formation consists of a main circle about 65 feet across, with a straight pathway about 10 feet long ending in a small circle 12 feet across. Another pathway from that circle ends in a small 4 foot circle. The ring of standing crop between the circle and ring is about 2 feet wide. Has been sampled for lab testing by Levengood / BLT.

Midale, Saskatchewan - August 17

Single circle, found August 17, 15 ' diametre. Further information when available.

Midale, Saskatchewan #2 - August 24

Three circles, found August 24, in separate field west of #1. Further information when available.

Cando, Saskatchewan - August 25

Discovered on August 25. Located near town of Cando, it is in the same region as the earlier circles at Conquest and Outlook. Consists of simply the numbers '4:20', in wheat. Two circles in colon are about 10' in diametre. Top circle is anti-clockwise, bottom circle is clockwise. Farmer reports that there were bright northern lights seen at about 4:20 - 4:40 am on August 26. Neighbor also reported seeing a "large shiny object" over the spot the previous day. Contains intricate "layering and weaving" of the plant stalks, going in different directions. Also contains blown nodes on plant stalks, according to ground investigation. Strange bright glowing light above the field was also later seen by farmer's son. Aerial and ground photos also will be available soon. Has been sampled for lab testing by Levengood / BLT.

Oakbank, Manitoba - August 26

Pictogram(s) consisting of multiple "circles, triangles and crosses". Turned out to be hoax, confessed to by local teenager who had seen a program on TV about crop circles. Full report available from Chris Rutkowski (Ufology Research of Manitoba), on the CPR-Canada web site. Has been sampled for lab testing by Levengood / BLT (as a control test).

Vanderhoof, British Columbia - August 28

Found on morning of August 28 (not there on 27). There are 11 circles, in three groups, in one oat field in a total area of approximately 450 by 200 feet, ranging in size from about 10 feet to 100 feet diametre. Most circles are very close together, almost touching. All circles are beautifully spiralled, with no broken plants, no footprints or other tracks seen and no disturbance to the soil beneath the flattened plants. This is definitely a first for this province! The Vanderhoof circles have attracted much media attention, as well as visitors to the site (up to 400 - 500 per day). Dogs in the area were reported barking through the night of creation (August 27 / 28). Several UFO reports in the area as well in last few days. Also, report of a hay wagon "catching fire" as it was passing the field! Have been sampled for lab testing by Levengood / BLT.

Midale, Saskatchewan #3 - Late August

Three circles, found late August (exact date not known yet), each is 22' diametre. In straight line. Further information when available.

Cando, Saskatchewan #2 - September 1

Two more circles were reported on September 2. They are approximately 100 - 150 feet from the first "4:20" formation. Found while combining, they may have been made the same time as first formation. Further details when available. Have been sampled for lab testing by Levengood / BLT.
