Intro to this Trinity 80-years series: This essay is the first in a series of probing articles that examine lesser known, and indeed still secret, aspects of the American nuclear weapons program, in the run-up to the 80th anniversary of the world’s first successful atomic bomb test at the Trinity Site in New Mexico, preliminary to the nuclear destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the last act of World War II. The newly released film “Oppenheimer” directed by Christopher Nolan presents with stunning visual effects much of the background in the early development of nuclear weapons by America’s Manhattan Project in a fierce rivalry with Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union and Japan, a topic that remains obscure and still under de facto censorship due to postwar geopolitical alignments and official evasion of lawsuits by injured survivors and contaminated communities.

As a frequent visitor to radioactivity-affected families still living near the Trinity site, along with personal irradiation passed down prenatally and on journalistic visits to Nagasaki and Hiroshima, I remain a skeptical realist toward atomic weaponry and its accompanying enrichment in nuclear reactors. Although it should have been banned before the first Trinity test, nuclear weaponry has been a fact of life and geopolitics, more entrenched by now than the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, if only because it is a faster and more convenient means toward human extinction. Let us raise a toast in praise to the dedicated men and women who served the cause of Armageddon with such fervor and loyalty! Cheers to a happy ending after proving in spades that we, in our sinful destructiveness, have no right whatsoever to remain on this Garden of Eden!

An Emotionless Drama

This wide-ranging discussion (as opposed to a standard cinema review) references the many issues skimmed over in Christopher Nolan’s well-crafted production “Oppenheimer”, released now, two years prior to the 80th Anniversary of the first-ever major nuclear blast at the Trinity Site, which today is less remote, merely a few miles from Highway 25 in the middle reaches of New Mexico. I am well acquainted with that area as a friend and somewhat advisor to a ranching family who’ve lived in close range of the blast site and lost their grandfather and other relatives to the pall of radioactivity-induced cancer.

The desert mountains surrounding the X-site are more stunningly beautiful that the grim hillock in the movie, although by now dotted with radar domes and electronic surveillance systems to detect and track suspicious intruders like me from poking around as I had done earlier inside the Fukushima nuclear exclusion zone. Meanwhile at lunchtime at the only two nearby sandwich bars, the White Sands crews and we the few critics dine on burgers like hostile next-door neighbors, politely ignoring the existence of the other. It’s still a game, you see, between hunter and hunted, perpetrator and victim, and always has been and shall be until time’s up for humanity, which is coming soon.

The Jews’ Vengeance

The best, perhaps most harrowing aspect of Nolan’s film is its focus on the highly sensitive matter of the prominent role of Jews in theoretical physics, nuclear chemistry and higher mathematics, the core intellectual tools toward development of the ultimate weapon of mass destruction, which killed a very low estimate of 135,000 residents of Hiroshima and 64,000 at Nagasaki, not accounting for those survivors who died within the next two decades and tens of thousands of aborted fetuses. A more inclusive and accurate total is of a half-million victims, perhaps more. The subsequent 40-year study by the politicaly rigged US-Japan “joint” Radiation Effects Research Foundation (RERF) found no effects of radiation subsequent to those blasts. Cruelest and most unforgivable of all was how the RERF doctors dispensed placebos instead of medicine to the A-bomb victims in order to study the progression of radiation after-effects on humans, a cunning deceit much like the COVID “vaccines”.

I must regretfully correct the record on the pathos of Japanese victimization with the fact that the Japanese Army closed off the blast sites until the American Occupation, and managed to recover from Nagasaki at least 20 kg of fragments of enriched uranium for study and reuse at their south Fukushima nuclear-bomb R&D center, which like a living ghost still haunts the devastated TEPCO Fukushima nuclear plant, also secretly fueled by uranium and plutonium transfers from the USA, specifically the PANTEX recycling plant for the nuclear-weapons industry in the Texas Panhandle.

A Long Hot and Radioactive Summer

As the tower of nuclear crimes continues to grow, the radioactive water flowing unchecked from the devastated Fukushima nuclear reactors is the present cause of the long hot summer across the USA along with raging forest fires, as in “karma comes home to roost”. The unholy mantra of so-called “climate change” is part of a continuing suppression of the facts of the many impacts of radioactive releases from bomb tests to industrial waste and, of course, nuclear plants. Today’s trouble with oppressive summertime heat stem from the evil root planted in New Mexico by the Manhattan Project under its reckless director J. Robert Oppenheimer.

It might be noted briefly here that I am not a dispassionate observer, as much as I try to be. My mother as a young girl boarded the last train that left Hiroshima racing from the “pika-pika” blast and firestorm, and several years thereafter I was born prematurely choking from an umbilical cord twisted around my neck and pus flowing out of the pores of my forehead, and suffered “inexplicable” horrific pain for 18 months, these problems being attributed by a soothsayer to the Devil, which indeed was correct given the diabolical nature of the atomic bomb and its radioactive residues. No apologies from the nuclear Establishment are demanded by me since craven government-hired scientists are paid to adhere to the official line or suffer the consequences of “disloyalty” to the greater cause of “democracy” for the rich and famous and other well-paid deans and academic researchers. After all, even weapons developers must pay off mortgages and feed their children.

A Jewish Gollum

Written in the first person, the movie’s central character J. Robert Oppenheimer, the head of the secret Manhattan Project, is a study of a secular American Jew with ultra-liberal leanings, both allied with and instinctively pitted against the mainstream Christian-dominated military and political establishment during the later Franklin Roosevelt and early Harry Truman presidencies. This contest of scientific research versus political power was the subtext of the widening divide between Jewish skepticism (and to a certain degree theological pondering) as against the pragmatism of a military bureaucracy out for weapons supremacy. The military men and American politicians were by no means comfortable with the European biases and conflicted loyalties of Jewry.

The party line for Democrats and Republicans is that the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings were a necessary means to prevent prolongation of the wartime slaughter, thereby saving American lives and those of Japanese civilians. That, of course, is utter nonsense, crude propaganda to justify those mass atrocities aimed at achieving a quick surrender by Tokyo to forestall and prevent a Soviet invasion and occupation of Japan. Today, two years short of eighty, we must trade these sorts of lame convenient lies for the actual hard facts of international policy in relation to the balance of world power and civilizational influence. Throughout the world, the A-bombings continue to be a black mark against the claims of American justice and democracy. We must face the facts head-on, if only to better adapt to an evolving world of crumbling American power and influence, when we, our side, becomes the target of a global consensus for total destruction.

Peaky Blinders goes to nuclear war

The premiere of Chris Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” coincides with the present crisis when a U.S. Navy nuclear submarine is docked, provocatively, near a launch-happy North Korea and meanwhile Russian hypersonic missiles hurtle through the skies over the Zapozhizhia nuclear plant in Ukraine, these situations serving as proof that the compass needle remains firmly fixed on Armageddon and the extinction of homo sapiens as a viable species or even as dog food. So the countdown starts again, ticking ever closer to the last hurrah.

Fortunately for the audience, Nolan focused on the man behind the machine, Oppenheimer, as a complex and flawed personality who was a sophisticated secular Jew but also a New Mexico horseman, a hedonist with a puritanical streak involved in sexual affairs with faculty wives, a methodical team player suffering paranoiac visions of a cosmic apocalypse, the disciplined administrator of a secret federal weapons program and a prophet of ancient Hindu cosmology. Aside from his visionary moments of scientific revelation, or perhaps due to it, Oppenheimer was notable for his cold calculating yet imaginative mind, ever ready to take advantage of his scientific colleagues, as underlings, to advance his own interest vis-a-vis his military superiors. His deep character flaws are what prompted Lewis Strasse (Robert Downy Jr.), the affable head of the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC), to secretly plot the downfall of the egocentric scientist whose cavalier self-confidence resulted in security breaches among his “loyal” coterie of disgruntled and distrusting fellow scientists, among them spies for the Kremlin.

Put on your Peaky Blinders

Before proceeding to the rise and ouster of Oppenheimer, some mention must be given to the lead actor Cillian Murphy, the wide-eyed Irishman who has appeared in several Nolan films. Robert Oppenheimer is the second-most juicy role for Murphy, the first of all being his performance in the British TV series “Peaky Blinders”, about an Irish gang that dominated Birmingham before and after World War I. Cillian Murphy was in the lead role as Tommy Shelby, the half-Irish son of a Roma aka Gypsy magic woman, whose seances and Tarot readings guided him to the pinnacle of financial power and political influence. He was a born leader, ruthless to any henchmen suspected of betrayal and outwardly kind to his groveling lackeys. As in “Oppenheimer”, the Irish boss was cordial to his lovers but cold-hearted when tossing them to the wolves.

His wide eyes are indicative of post-childhood autism, a life of perceptions devoid of deep emotions. As hardened volunteers in the trenches during the First World War, his Irish gang was allowed by the police to free reign over Birmingham, so long as more established gangs were wiped out by the Peaky Blinders. The odd term derived from attaching straight razors onto their Irish caps, spinning these as weapons to flick at the eyeball of a foe, thereby slicing the targeted eye in half. “Peaky” or “Pikey” refers to a homeless Irish “traveller” or vagabond tramp, as in the Brad Pitt role of Pikey O’Neil in the Guy Richie-directed movie “Snatch”. Tommy Shelby is thus the offspring of a vagabond Irishman and roaming Roma, the very lowest of the low who claws his way up the steep social ladder with ruthless determination shorn of any whiff of sentiment, and totally devoid of love. The post-coital scene in “Oppenheimer” shows the same unsentimental animal lust of Pikey Tommy Shelby.

Sexualizing Death as the Ultimate Conquest

Robert Oppenheimer, whose non-observant Jewish father was a textile merchant from Hanau, the birthplace of the Brothers Grimm, near Frankfurt (home of the Rothschilds) in the Hesse-Rhine region. The bleak and treacherous universe of the Grimm fairy tales offers a clue as to Oppie’s pitiless self-absorbed character type. While identifying himself as a German and a Jew, Robert was an atheist, as shown in his attraction to the Hindu Vedas, particularly the imperious god Vishnu: “Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.” (That line quoted in a sex scene with an adulterous lover, who later committed suicide out of despair of his cold-hearted attitude, has provoked an uproar across India.)

His mention of Vishnu, which translates as “all pervasive” (with connotations of heavenly light, sound and instantaneous motion across time and space in a leap) is the key to Oppenheimer’s conjectures in theoretical physics in regard to subatomic particles and their inter-changeable manifestation as energy waves. Perception depends on the observer’s viewpoint, a core assumption of relativity theory. A nuclear blast, of course, emits a storm of radioactive particles and rays. Myth informs science or was it science all along? The math for advanced theory, meanwhile, remains questionable, since numbers and letters are mere artificial representations. The real subatomic dance is more of a spiralling mantra.

Wild West Cowboy

Oppenheimer identified as an All-American by donning a wide-brimmed flat coachmen hat worn for horse-riding (like the ones in Clint Eastwood movies), an appearance fashioned during his youth in the early 1920s when his father took him on vacation in New Mexico to learn horse-riding and how to enjoy outdoors life in the Sangre de Cristo mountains. His familiarity with the rugged and lightly populated terrain is how he came to recommend Los Alamos as a remote location ideal for an advanced atomic-weapons laboratory out of enemy sight.

The more important reason, unmentioned by his biographers, was that Oppenheimer’s plan for a lab on a scenic plateau was largely due to his boyhood knowledge of the abandoned vanadium mines in the nearby Four Corners region, much of that belonging to the Navajo Nation, where piles of rare but then useless uranium were on par with the ore beds in the Belgian Congo and Canada. The movie shows him tossing a few marbles into a fish bowl to indicate the group’s growing store of uranium. In reality, there were tons of the fissile material scattered on the desert floor awaiting rail shipment to the Fermi lab or the Mallenkropt-Dow processing center in western Illinois, as disclosed in my articles on the East Palestine train wreck.

The U.S. Corps of Engineers, the official sponsor of the Manhattan Project, and the AEC established a massive uranium mining operation in the Four Corners region, which accounts for the prevalence of lung cancer to this day among the Navajo tribesmen and nearby settler communities. That background in the primitivism of the Southwest, still the center of Indian magic rites and spirit dances, accounts for his fascination with Vishu the Destroyer.

Hard-hearted Hero

Oppenheimer’s ice-cold reaction to the suicide of a lover, a faculty wife who divorced her academic husband to be with him, is further chilled in an eye-for-an-eye conversation with Albert Einstein, both in agreement that it was extremely unfortunate that Hitler had committed suicide so prematurely, nullifying their splendid opportunity to nuke the Germans. Eh, Bobby, deer Fuhrer just ruined our birthday party for him!

Following the Allied defeat of Germany, the enthusiasm at Manhattan Project noticeably cooled in disappointment, reduced to a mere technological exercise rather than preparation for “Nekima” or simply “Yo”, the Jewish terms for sweet revenge. Other ethnic groups with U.S. citizenship did the job with guns and bayonets. Notably, the American Jews were the least represented ethnic group in the U.S. Army during World War II, with the few volunteers mainly in the medical corps. When offered the real-life opportunity to slaughter German troops in hand-to-hand combat, the Yids balked and failed to show, preferring instead to unleash a Gollum, a powerful killing machine, against their sworn foes, that unholy giant of course being the atomic bomb, a graven idol, the Baal of cowards.

The brief encounter scene showed both Oppie and his much-vaunted senior Einstein, in their carefully groomed public image as the wise men of theoretical physics. The two later collaborated at the Princeton Institute of Advanced Studies, following Oppie’s forced departure from the directorship of the Manhattan Project, retreating to the safety of pure theory after their frustrated dream of blowing their ancestral German homeland to tiny bits and pieces. Unfortunately, for future generations far remote from the events of 1945, Nolan pulled his punches, allowing those self-promoting geniuses to get off the hook. If ever there was a moment for iconoclasm, that was it, and it passed by with unintelligible mumbling.

The double-traitor as Anti-Hero

Thus, by contrast in a twisted narrative, the behaviorally consistent thief who stole America’s nuclear secrets for Joe Stalin, the Soviet spy Klaus Fuchs, hewed to a “noble” motive, of sorts, of stealing the thunder from those Trinity blowhards to deter Truman from ordering a preemptive nuclear strike against Eastern Europe and Russia. Nolan shied away from mention of Fuchs’ work at Los Alamos, which was, following Edward Teller’s departure, to calculate and finalize the implosion sequence for a plutonium fusion bomb aka Fat Man, dropped over Nagasaki.

As the son of a Lutheran pastor in the Hesse region, he became enchanted during youth, as did many of his post-WWI peers in the idealistic promises of communism as opposed to the Jew-degraded Weimar republic. After immigrating to England, where he worked on the “Tube Alloys”, codeword for the British atomic bomb project, he was recruited by Comrade Sonya, aka Ursula Kuchzynski, to move to the USA to infiltrate the Manhattan Project. Apparently, Fuchs managed to collect a pile of diagrams and documents for passing off to Soviet agents. Later, when caught out on his return to Britain, Fuchs confessed to his role as a spy and served an 11-year prison sentence, after which he was deported to East Germany where he served in an advanced physics role.

Whether Fuchs was a super-spy or, likelier, the fall guy for FDR’s secret transfers of nuclear plans and materials to his wartime Soviet ally remains a yet to-be solved question of atomic treason at the White House, arranged by the communist sympathizer Harry Hopkins, whose wartime role was as Roosevelt’s emissary to Churchill. The mention of airborne radioactivity over Siberia in “Oppenheimer” was possibly indicative a Soviet test blast enabled by top-secret US-USSR cooperation on airlifts from Alaska to Arzamas-16, Stalin’s version of Los Alamos, sometimes referred to cynically as Los Arzamas. Unfortunately, any mention of the secret Roosevelt-Stalin A-bomb transfers, even by a director as renowned as Chris Nolan, would be “black-listed” by the retro Jewish cabal that runs Hollywood and still idolize Soviet-era communism as their “Back to the Future” moral paragon. Nolan barely got away with his near-truthful masterpiece, whatever its flaws.

Stopping the Japanese bomb

Then came the real deal with the atomic destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, blind-siding Emperor Hirohito’s court and its generals. There’s been very little hand-wringing over the civilian deaths at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, where the efficacy of The Bomb could be tested without provoking much revulsion from an American public still smarting from the treacherous attack on Pearl Harbor and the horrors of the Bataan March. Aside from treating the Asiatics as lab rats, something less than human (as Jews hoped not to be treated in Nazi Europe), in those field tests, Oppenheimer did not raise any objections, but only sighed regrets that his team efforts had not wreaked revenge on Germany. Is this moral cowardice or something more vile, opportunism? True, he did complain to Truman: “I have blood on my hands.” Burnt flesh would have been a more apt confession. Yes, indeed, weapons are designed to kill, and the more the merrier for the victor.

By contrast, the secular Nazi Werner Von Braun who designed, built and fired V2 rockets at vulnerable Londoners fought the Battle of Britain without moral posturing or pretentious claims about saving the lives of Axis bomber crews or German sailors. The eminent weapons engineer went on during the Cold War to become the father of the U.S. space program, which has gone farther and conducted immensely more research in astronomy and chemical studies of deep space than the Oppenheimer-legacy atomic weapons program. Nor did he ever make any public pseudo-theological comments about the Universe. So the moral of their stories is: Good guys are losers and evil guys get the prize.

Pro-Axis Jews sought Roosevelt’s quiet support

Perhaps another movie in the distant future might probe the duplicity and secrecy behind Harry Truman’s decision to drop the bomb as a warning to Jewish duplicity given the juicy offers from the Soviet spies, putting the Trinity crew’s feet into their own fire. In tandem with Japanese colleagues at The Japan Times, I was involved in a research project on the Jewish-Japanese wartime alliance involving the misrepresented hero Chiune Sugihara, the Foreign Ministry official and military spy who provided travel papers to thousands of Lithuanian Lubavitcher and Polish Jews for secret rail transit through the Soviet Union to Japanese-occupied Harbin (in Manchuria) and Shanghai.

Prior to Pearl Harbor and afterwards, the Jewish youth of the Betar (Youth) movement were trained and armed by the Japanese Imperial military for infiltration into British Palestine, where in tandem with Muslim Arabs, the Irgun and Stern Gang “terrorists” launched paramilitary attacks against the occupation, including the murderous explosions that killed 90 Britons at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem.

The Japanese-Jewish sabotage campaign against Britain, launched six months before Pearl Harbor, aimed to create an independent Jewish-and-Islamic state in the Near East, a goal wholeheartedly supported by the Jewish World Congress funded by Sam Bronfman, the Canadian whisky distiller (who remained grateful to Japan after the war, where I as a young lad met him in Kyoto, along with Norman Cousins). Meanwhile, to the contrary, the craven lackey British Jews dominated by the Rothschild dynasty supported England and her Allies with their financial support to the neo-colonialist Haganah militia against indigenous Arabs in the Near East. This power struggle within the Zionist movement accounts for the elevation of Einstein and Oppenheimer as stooges of the British-Rothschild-American consortium that created the Bretton-Woods global gold monopoly. Gold, in the end, is all that matters!

In 1945, following the disastrous Japanese Army’s retreat from eastern India and Burma and MacArthur’s promised return to the Philippines, along with destruction of the navy in the Coral Sea, Japan’s military intelligence service made bids to end the war via Chiang Kai-shek, via Joe Stilwell and Bronfman to Treasury Secretary Henry Morganthau as to lighter terms of surrender. The newly installed Truman, after FDR’s death, was a true believer in postwar Anglo-American global dominance (as was to be implemented by the UK-US Bretton Woods currency-control regime) and therefore ordered a green-light for the A-bombings to proceed against Japan’s southern cities, although not against the Imperial elite in Tokyo, spared to cut a deal with Gen. Douglas MacArthur.

In this light on obscure facts, Einstein and Oppenheimer were not ethically torn scientists of conscience; they were self-centered opportunists without a whit of moral qualms and key collaborators in mass murder of innocents, who went on to their rewards with the appointment to Princeton. As for genius, not really, their research reputations were highly inflated by a corrupt news media to cover over a cunning Einstein’s shameless plagiarism of relativity theory at the Zurich patent office and Oppenheimer’s dreamy meanderings and blatant appropriation from other scientists at Los Alamos who went unrecognized, as shown in the movie. In this light, Oppie’s coldness in ditching an aggrieved faculty wife was indicative of a serious character flaw, which treated others as expendable steppingstones toward public acclaim and a lucrative contract.

Erratic Bombs

The bombings in Japan were hailed as a success, a debatable claim given the fact that the Fat Man device detonated over Nagasaki was technically flawed, despite the brilliant blast and plume of smoke. Following the destruction, the Japanese military cordoned off the vast bay city to search for chunks of uranium and traces of plutonium, recovering a 20 kilogram fragment for secret study and reuse at Japanese nuclear-weapons program in southern Fukushima province. Following the Japanese surrender, the postwar British-American Alsos mission sent a research-and-recovery team to retrieve bomb materials but returned to Britain empty-handed.

The other glitch at Nagasaki was the officially claimed “drift” of the 21,000 ton Fat Man bomb from the targeted city center toward the Catholic cathedral, three kilometers “off course”, obviously a cock-and-bull account. A more honest reported would have admitted that the second Bomb was directed targeted over the first Christian cathedral in Japan, founded by the Jesuit order of Francis Xavier. The actual purpose of the Nagasaki blast was punishment in warning against the Papacy of Pius XII for the avid Catholic support for Mussolini Fascism and acceptance of the Nazi policy toward Jews. Did this lethal vendetta have something to do with Einstein’s sigh in his brief talk with Oppenheimer indicating that the Germans got away from supreme retribution from the cadre of Jewish scientists at Los Alamos? Or was that the mission actually to be an “accidental” nuking of the Vatican for its support for Franco, Mussolini, Hitler and Tojo?

In brief: some other points about this herculean cinema project: The predawn Trinity test is a must-see, the first palpable recollection of that seminal event. Another kudo goes for the casting of actors in the roles of the scientific team members, including Enrico Fermi, Ernest Lawrence and Oppenheimer’s much criticized younger brother Frank.

Finally, the opening scenes of Oppenheimer’s dream/nightmare of Cosmic self-destruction of a dying star by nuclear implosion and release of radiation was a brilliant way to make the arcane concepts of implosion and fission palpable to the layman and visually impressive to students who failed to make the grade in physics 101.

In hindsight, Klaus Fuchs as the leftist German spy who stole the thunder from the Trinity Project, to put Soviet Russia into the nuclear deterrence game with the US-UK combine, would have made a far more fascinating subject for a suspense thriller in the cinema noir mode of Alfred Hitchcock. Christopher Nolan missed his mark by rolling out a propaganda poster rather than another of his dark puzzling mysteries. Perhaps this over-enthusiasm can be remedied by a sober study of an anti-hero/villain with nerves of steel inside the Trinity Project, the polite, modest and shy Professor Fuchs.
