Healthy tender bars, foods that contain less sugar and no sweeteners:
Victoriaville's vending machines have begun a healthy shift. The "Hop
the City" movement made a complete inventory of machines and identified
the best products that meet specific criteria.
"We left some treats. We know that it is not everyday foods that we consume
in vending machines. But we still wanted to say "if you want to choose
the best food, here are some of them." They are identified by a loophole
Hop la Ville, "explains the project manager for the movement Hop the City,
Marie Pier Genois-Gélinas.
Five public buildings have already confirmed their participation in this
project: the Sani Marc Complex, the Édouard-Dubord swimming pool and the
Arthabaska Community Center, while in the spring the Grand Trunk Vélogare
and the Pavilion will be added. Welcome to Beaudet Reservoir.
"We have targeted, for example, soft bars, cookies, whether they are foods
that contain more than 2 grams of fiber, less than 10 grams of sugar and
that contain no synthetic sweetener, aspartame, sucralose and all alcoholic
sugars too, "adds Ms. Genois-Gélinas.
The City invites all organizations that own a vending machine to join
the movement. Support is offered to understand the criteria.
