You Can't Put Your
Foot In Two Shoes

Theodore Roosevelt 1907, "In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here.  Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. We have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Do any of our leaders understand that quote?  Do they have any clue as to the importance of its meaning?  With over 20 million illegal aliens residing in our country, our Congress and president don't have a clue!

However, there is a lawful way to come to America and on the 29th of April of 2005, former Italian Luca Zanna enjoyed the opportunity to accomplish the dream of his life: he became an American Citizen!

"I never can forget the moment I've swore the oath to my new country along with other 10,000 new reborn American citizens... this was part of our oath we had to recite in our ceremony:

"I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic... so help me God."

"I had to hold the tears, tears of joy and pride to have had the chance in this life to become part of the country most I love and it represents my spirit: America.

When I have said "I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty"... I meant it... so I thought that the American government meant it too...the first thing came to my mind that finally I was an American, not an Italian American, not American Italian--"just" an American.  Accordingly to that, I have decided that all my allegiance to Italy and to the Italian government was part of my past.

"Nothing personal! I am proud of my roots, but that is part of my past: since that moment America is my present and my future. I had decided to be become an American.  It took me years of effort. Why in the heck would I want to still be an Italian? If I wanted to be considered myself an Italian, I would have stayed in Italy.

"There is a proverb in Italy that says... you can't put your foot in two shoes... bottom line... you have to decide where you are going to stand, you can't be on the side line where it is more convenient.

"Unfortunately I have soon realized that the beautiful words of our oath are just rhetorical words and they don't find a practical application in life and in our laws--not for me, but for the government and sad but true for many new citizens.

"In the last few months I have met too many new Americans that they feel themselves Americans part timekeeping their former citizenship, their original passport and their allegiance to their former homeland. Why does the US Government permit that?

Why do we still let these hybrids and double "marriages" allowed in America? This is creating more division and less unity--especially in such critical times for the identity of this country where the English language is not more a common bond and we are becoming like many nations in a nation.

Jimmy Hendrix during his concerts he used to burn his guitar. Well, I am not Jimmy, but I have decided to burn my Italian passport. I want to share with you this moment:  www.UnitedStates.fm

Bottom Line: You can't put your foot in two shoes... find a country that you love and stick with it!

Our citizenship downgrades with 20 million illegal aliens. Our president and Congress aid and abet the degradation of U.S. citizenship. Thousands of American employers break our laws by hiring illegals.  How do their actions serve America?  Our own people lose jobs to outsourcing, insourcing and offshoring through H-1B, H-2B and L-1 visas.  What purpose does the Congress find in destroying millions of American families?  Our language is being trashed by unwanted and unlawful newcomers.  How will Congress and our president communicate to Americans when they are not citizens?   Our schools degrade into Third World quagmires.  How will our Republic sustain an illiterate sub-class?  Our hospitals suffer overwhelming 'anchor baby' costs, taxpayer hemorrhaging by illegals using our medical facilities at never ending costs to us.  Why do our senators and House representatives support that?  What happens when our kids catch TB from illegal aliens in our schools?  How are we supposed to feel about it?  Illegal alien crime accelerates across this county via illegal aliens?  Why won't Congress and this president take action?

When will Bush and Congress support legal, lawful, orderly, sane and reasonable immigration?  Aren't the reasons obvious by now?  Teddy Roosevelt got it right! When will Bush stand up for what it means to be an American?

Out of this accelerating national nightmare, a fresh mind and fresh breath zooms into America by a man who chose to immigrate the legal way-Luca Zanna brings a refreshing and much needed lift to what it means to become an American.
