Blame Game Double Standard
By Ted Lang

During the Clinton administration, there was also a brief period of rising gasoline prices, albeit nowhere near the skyrocketing prices caused by Bush's war for Israel that has now so devastated the former balance power that was in place in the Middle East. That military balance maintained oil price stability. The skyrocketing and wildly rising prices at the pump are, of course, yet another benefit of Bush's stupid and unnecessary war.

During the Clinton gasoline price increases, a cruel joke when compared to the outrage launched by Bush and his neocon buddies, the Great One, Rush Limbaugh, chided stupid Americans from "Rio Linda" for screaming at gasoline price while ignoring Clinton's tax increases. Limbaugh simply couldn't understand why people made such a fuss over the few pennies that gasoline increased at the pumps, yet didn't offer a peep when Clinton's tax increases caused people to fork over hundreds and thousands of dollars in increased tax liabilities. Limbaugh more than hinted at the stupidity of the American people in failing to recognize their economic myopia.

Compare that observation to the virtual silence now on the part of the Great One this time around. Sure, tax rates and their resultant liability have been reduced. And of course, now that a slight upward trend has been recorded in tax revenues thereby reducing the anticipated financial operating loss of American government, Limbaugh booms: "See, I told you so - tax cuts generate increased revenue!"

When Clinton raised taxes, the federal government came away with a surplus, but when Bush lowered taxes, and started a horrendous and unjust war causing thousands in the American military to lose their lives, their limbs, and their former serene mental state, Limbaugh points out the central government in Washington is losing less money than anticipated. Is it Limbaugh's position that America will ever again regain surplus status under Bush? Of course not - it absolutely cannot happen as long as the madman and lunatic in the White House continues his Iraqi war and his stupid "War on Terror." And now he and his fellow neocon wackos and Israel are busy planning the nuclear attack and invasion of Iran to launch World War III.

How deliciously simple is Limbaugh's current, partisan grasp of basic, simple economics. All he has to crow about with Bush is a mere reduction in the planned loss [deficit] in the federal budget. This is something he used to denigrate when Clinton was in power. Back then, he offered that "a deficit is still a deficit." All government was doing, was simply announcing a reduction in a loss already anticipated, and clearly pointing out that it was still a loss. But what is more critical, is to understand where this phony temporary "increase," nowhere near a surplus but really a lesser loss, originated from.

Limbaugh plays the big government game of calling a reduced loss for a one-year government period of revenue collection a "surplus," while being careful to avoid pointing out the shocking growth of our national debt.

To toot Bush's horn, Limbaugh jumps to the conclusion that the reduced deficit is resultant of tax cuts. But consider the other sources of revenue to the central government, both in the form of income taxes and excise/import-export taxes. Bush's war has sharply increased revenues for the war industry, the military-industrial complex. Consider the profits of Halliburton, and the Carlyle Group, and other big defense contractors. Think of the federal taxes and cash profits the federal government rakes in as a percentage of the skyrocketing prices at the gas pump. Have you heard anything about this from Limbaugh et al?

During the tiny Clinton increase at the pumps, Limbaugh screamed for a roll back of the federal sales tax bite on gasoline sales - have you heard any such similar appeals coming from the Great One or any of his buddies from squawk radio? Of course not - it's all about the meaningless blame game partisan crap these low brows constantly wish to distract US with. It's the political blame game and labeling bit which serves the simpleton purpose of pitting one political label against the other.

The skyrocketing gasoline and diesel fuel prices affect each and every one of US, even old folks that no longer drive a car. It is reflected in our increasing food prices, the price of clothing, and in short, the price of everything we consume. But you'll never hear that from Limbaugh. Bush and his GOP are the biggest disaster our economy has ever experienced! And considering Bush's unlimited war agenda, we may soon outdistance the Great Depression!
