A US soldier was killed and another wounded near Iraq's restive town of Samarra, north of Baghdad, the US military said today.
"One Task Force Danger soldier was killed and one was wounded by indirect fire on a coalition forces base near Samarra," a statement said.
Earlier, three soldiers died in a road accident.
The deaths take the total number of US servicemen who have died since the March 2003 invasion of Iraq to 1455, according to Pentagon figures. report
