- AR RAMADI, Iraq - At approximately 10:45 this morning,
a convoy was hit with an improvised explosive device (IED), small arms
fire, and a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG), which injured three U.S. soldiers.
The soldiers suffered burns and shrapnel wounds and have been medically
evacuated to the 28th Combat Support Hospital (CSH).

- The IED exploded as the convoy passed, hitting a vehicle
and rendering it inoperable. As the convoy halted, small arms fire and
a RPG hit a 5,000-gallon fuel tanker, which caught fire.

- The Ar Ramadi fire department and elements from 1st Brigade,
1st Infantry Division arrived to the site to help extinguish the fire.

- I don't know about you, but after reading dozens of attack
stories like this which result in 'inoperable' Humvees, 'damaged trucks',
'disabled vehicles' and leaving one or no wounded, I have little faith
in CENTCOM any longer. I would suspect CENTCOM might describe the space
shuttle disaster as having left it 'inoperable'. We know from careful
reading many of these vehicles are blown to pieces and burned-out hulks.
My instinct and ex-combat buddies tell me, sadly, there are a LOT more
fatalities than we are being told about. A bomb, and rpg and automatic
weapons attack ...and three hurt and one 'inoperable' vehicle??
