- BAHGDAD (AFP) -- A suspected
suicide attack left casualties near the entrance to a US army base in the
flashpoint town of Ramadi, west of the Iraqi capital.

- "There was some kind of an event it may have been
a suicide attack," a military spokesman told a press briefing.

- The attack took place Thursday about 1:30 pm (1130 GMT)
in the town 100 kilometres (60 miles) west of Baghdad.

- "There are reports of casualties but apart from
that we don't have any further details," the spokesman, who refused
to be named, told reporters.
