- KABUL - At least three US
soldiers were killed in eastern Afghanistan after their car went over a
mine planted by militants, a top Afghan official said on Saturday, but
the US military said that there was only one fatality in the attack.

- The incident occurred on Friday near a US military base
in Manogi district, Kunar province, near the border with Pakistan, said
Kunar Governor Sayed Fazl Akbar.

- US military spokesman Col Rodney Davis said that only
one soldier from the US-led force in Afghanistan had been killed.

- Separately, two militiamen from the mainly Uzbek Junbish
faction were killed in fighting agaisnt Tajik Jamiat rivals in Chemtal
district, 30 kilometres west of Mazar-e-Sharif, said Juma Khan Hamdar,
commander of the Junbish-dominated 8th corps.

- Gen Abdul Sabor of the Jamiat-dominated 7th corps said
that two Junbish were killed but said that the fighting was between villagers
of Sayed Sharaf and Junbish militiamen.

- Separately, at least 12 Afghan nomads, including eight
of a family, were killed and seven seriously hurt in an accident in the
Wana Zairee area of South Waziristan Tribal Agency on Friday night.

- Seven women and five children died when the tractor trolley,
in which they were travelling, plunged into a ravine during the night.
The injured were sent to hospital.

- The injured were admitted to the Agency Headquarter Hospital,
Wana. They said that the incident was took place when a pair of trolley's
wheel separated.
