- American investigators are questioning a prominent Pakistani
surgeon whom they believe treated Osama bin Laden after he escaped from
his hiding place in the Tora Bora mountains of Afghanistan.
-
- They suspect that Amir Aziz, 46, a British-trained orthopaedic
surgeon, can help solve the mystery of whether the world's most wanted
man is dead or alive.
-
- The search for information on the fugitive al-Qaeda leader
has also been widened to family members.
-
- It was revealed at the weekend that bin Laden's fifth
and favourite wife, Amal al-Saddah, has been put under house arrest in
Yemen for questioning.
-
- The London newspaper The Sunday Times yesterday quoted
Arab diplomats as saying: "She [al-Saddah] escaped from her hiding
place in southern Afghanistan which he [bin Laden] had made his base, only
to find herself closely guarded under house arrest in her father's compound."
