President Vladimir Putin told British Prime Minister Tony Blair Friday
that he doubted that there were any grounds for using force against Iraq,
the Kremlin was quoted as saying by Russian news agencies.

- RIA news agency, quoting a Kremlin statement, said Putin
told the British leader he had "deep doubts that there are grounds
for the use of force in connection with Iraq."

- A Kremlin spokesman also reported Putin's conversation
with President Bush, but offered no details. The White House said Bush
also spoke to the leaders of France and China -- like Russia, permanent
members of the U.N. Security Council.
