US Senate Candidate Arrested
On Firearms Charges In CO

9-8-2

Rick Stanley, US Senate Candidate, arrested in Thornton for engaging in 2nd Amendment Rights (Carrying a Gun OPENLY on his hip, as he does almost everyday to bring attention to the US Police State)

Rick Stanley, US Senate Candidate, Libertarian Party, was arrested in Thornton, Colorado on Saturday at around 1:30 PM, September 7th, 2002, at the City of Thornton Harvest Festival Celebration held in Community Park at 2141 E95th Ave. Stanley was arrested for violating a Thornton City ordinance, not allowing guns on a person in plain sight, in violation of State Law, the State Constitution, and the US Constitution.

Stanley was also harassed by police for handing out political literature which is also protected by state law and US law, not to mention a first Amendment Right violation. Stanleys property rights were also violated, when the City of Thornton stole his .357 Magnum pistol, and gave Stanley a receipt for, telling Stanley if he wasn't found guilty of the ordinance, he could get it back. One fine cop said that the property would probably be forfeited as it was involved in a crime in the City of Thornton. The gun is apparently the crime, as Stanley was holding it in holster in plain site for all to see, and harming no one, while Campaigning in the Park.

STANLEY SHOWED HIS AUTHORIZING PERMIT TO CARRY ANYWHERE IN AMERICA INCLUDING COLORADO. After showing the US Constitution and reading the 2d Amendment to the Thornton Police, "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed", Stanley was released finally from City of Thornton Custody with a ticket to appear in the Thornton Municipal Court at 9:30 AM on October 8, 2002, to enter a plea. Stanley intends to enter a plea of not guilty and as in his Denver Gun case from December 15, 2001, will appeal to the Supreme Court if necesssary for relief and to overturn an UNCONSTITUTIONAL ORDINANCE that is less than the State Constitution and less than the US Constitution, and therefore violates the law, and as Supreme Court law has stated before, "any inferior ordinance, statute, or legislation that violates the Supreme Law of the Land is void from the point of it's enaction, as if it was never enacted". Stanley vows to fight all unconstitutional laws whether elected to the US Senate or not. Next stop BOULDER. One problem though, can someone loan me a gun? Seem to have had mine stolen!

Sincerely,
Rick Stanley -- Rick Stanley
