-- The United States is paying $300 million to Pakistan to meet the expenses
incurred during the U.S.-led war on terror in South Asia, a Pakistani official
said early Friday.

- The payment was finalized in a meeting between U.S. President
George W. Bush and President Pervez Musharraf in New York Thursday evening.

- Pakistan's ambassador to the United States, Ashraf Jehangir
Qazi, told a news briefing in New York that participation in the Operation
Enduring Freedom has cost Pakistan more than $700 million and said the
rest of the amount would also be reimbursed soon.
