- Russia is to introduce mandatory labelling of all food
products from genetically modified sources, reports Itar-Tass.

- As of 1 September this year, manufacturers are reported
to be required to package their products with comprehensive labels The
Itar-Tass report quoted State Sanitary Inspection sources as saying the
labels should be fully informative and should contain information about,
for example, proteins.

- Exception has been made for products containing no DNA
and protein - refined oils, modified starch, glucose syrups and products
containing less than 5% of components from genetically modified sources.
