- In about August of 97, I watched to my amazement - in
a clear blue sky, a bunch of cross-hatched clouds forming over the place
I was living in Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, BC. It took about all of 2 minutes
for this "cloud" to start from nothing and quickly begin taking
over the sky.

- I ran inside and picked up a hi 8 sonycam (because I
did not have a camera ready) and this thing was forming fast. I recorded
about 30 seconds of video then did a video capture. It is not the best
quality because I couldn't figure how to turn off the auto-focus and it
kept zooming in and out trying to find something to lock onto. Yet even
with this the "cross-hatch pattern" is clearly visible. This
is not an artifact of the video or video capture process in my opinion
because I was a witness to the event.

- It filled up most of the sky over me but not all .. ie
almost from horizon to horizon - and was rather thin but did block out
the color of the sky over time. I can't say for sure at what altitude this
was forming but if I recall I don't remember being able to see much above
the few mountains we have here at about 3,500- 5,000 feet.

- The camera was pointing in a south westerly direction.
