- Thirty patients receiving treatment in a top Baghdad
heart clinic have died after being struck down with a mystery virus that
has contaminated the establishment, [the Iraq newspaper Babel] reported
Thu 22 Jun 2000.

- "Twenty-five other patients are at the point of
death" in the Saddam cardiology centre, said Babel. The Saddam cardiology
centre is the most prestigious heart clinic in Iraq. The clinic's administration
has decided to stop all surgical operations until it had the results of
a medical inquest opened to determine the origin of the fatal virus, Babel
said.
