- I interviewed Col. David Huxsoll, the newly- appointed
director of Plum Island, in 1987, when he was commander of the U.S. Army
Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (AMRIID) at Fort Detrick.
-
- He confirmed to me 13 years ago the technological feasibility
of much of the biowarfare research involving genetic engineering that we
talk about today. So he was helpful in that respect, but of course I had
figured out the whole scheme, so maybe he was just being smart in not denying
it. He also did not deny that the Army was doing biowarfare research. Instead,
he denied that the Army had 'intentions' of using the research offensively,
which would have been a violation of international law.
-
- When I asked Huxsoll how the public could be assured
that biowarfare research for offensive purposes was not underway, his answer
was ìbecause we tell you what we do.î In other words, you
just have to trust the Army. He was, of course correct. The very same research
for claimed defensive purposes can be used for offensive purposes. They
are indistinguishable.
-
- He may even invite some agitators to tour the facility,
as he personally invited me to Fort Detrick (I declined). Being ìcommunity
friendlyî really translates into facing the public with a smile and
putting the ìplausibleî back into ìplausible deniability.î
That skill may only increase Huxsollís effectiveness in advancing
the nefarious research agenda at Plum Island. He certainly was an asset
at Fort Detrick.
-
- Plum Island is a product of secret, unaccountable, rogue
government. Itís barely off the continent, but its activities are
substantially off the shelf. We the people foot the bill with our tax dollars,
but have little knowledge about and no voice in what goes on. That which
we have been able to uncover and surmise is deeply disturbing. And what
is going on not only bypasses any democratic process, but poses a threat
to the survival of the planet. Thatís not something that we can
ìtrustî anyone, any government agency, or any secret government
with.
-
- Forget about having a ìcommunity friendlyî
director at Plum Island. That issue is of little consequence. Huxsollís
appointment is more important in another respect. Indeed, the fact that
they are bringing a heavy hitter like Huxsoll to Plum Island may be the
strongest indicator yet of future plans for this facility and its importance.
Huxsoll oversaw the entire Army Biowarfare research program, which is conducted
not only at Fort Detrick, but also includes projects ferreted out to Plum
Island, many university campuses, and outposts around the globe. Heís
the Babe Ruth of Biowarfare research.
-
- Perhaps, officially or unofficially, Plum Island will
take over headquarter status from Fort Detrick, if it hasnít already.
-
- Ask yourself this question: Why is the Army taking on
the role of protecting us from ìepidemicsî like West Nile
Virus and related ìemerging infectious diseasesî among humans,
plants and animals? The answer is: they arenít. If the Army is involved,
there is a military purpose, period. Thatís not speculation; thatís
based on history. Those of you familiar with the Church hearings of the
mid 1970s and/or the investigative journalism by me and others in the 1980s,
know what Iím talking about. The technology has advanced, but the
patterns of deception today have not changed from those of the past.
