- This piece is very useful Terry but I fear that with
pieces like yours - only the converted read them. It is cathartic for
me, for example, to go through them..I find my internal dialogue sounds
a bit like this, "Yeah! I wish more people would focus on that!.."
and "I can't believe with all that we know about this that still
the world turns away..." and "Sure Tanya and Ilan have said
what they said, but who is doing anything about it???" and so on
and so forth throughout the document.
-
- It is depressing the way things are going. Education
levels are at an all time low in the OT, Palestinians are now at each
others' throats.. And Israel sits back smug. When will this nightmare
end? I don't think we can ever hope for a happy ending. Even if there
was such a thing, who would bring back the 60 years of suffering and undo
the wrongs that were done to thousands upon thousands of innocent Palestinians?
I don't think people read anymore Terry. WHen I'm asked to submit a piece
to US (and even ME) papers they demand NO MORE THAN 1000 words.
-
- What they REALLY want are 900 words tops! Pieces like
yours that provide more than just sound bites will not make it into a
NY Times or Chicago Tribune...unless if you were maybe a Noam Chomsky,
and even then, I'm sure they might contest it.. they want packages..neat
- simplistic speak..the kind of stuff Americans, who try to understand,
can grasp...throw in the words "suicide bombers" and "terrorists"
and "fundamentalists" and "Jewish fears" and you have
the makings of something good - a piece that will sell and give the editor
who published it a good year-end bonus.
-
- I'm feeilng a little disappointed at the world Terry.
My offices in Lebanon where I worked for the last 2 years were severely
damaged by the last bomb that killed 9 human beings...no one was hurt
luckily but it just seems the ME is not a place of hope.. we are at a
point of no return..its spiraling...
-
- Palestine is gone. Iraq is gone. Lebanon flirts with
civil war again. Syria and Iran dance dangerously close to electric walls
of dirty politics laid out by the US and it's watchdog Israel (or is
it the other way around?) and if they get zapped, what then? The entire
Arab world is feeling a huge pit or dislike in its collective stomach
toward anything American (with the exception of the Gulf states..they
live with their heads in the sand - content to live their little, comfortable,
sterile lives. I don't just mean the Gulf nationals but everyone here..
all of us..).
-
- Ok, i will get off my soap box brought on by your article..
:) I hope that all is well Terry. I am trying to raise over $200,000
to send Shahadeh to boarding school (not college yet) in England..I want
to give him his last 4 years of highschool and youth back.. I want him
to feel like a normal child..take him out of the WB and his oppressive
life and give him a few years of youth...
