- Hurricane Isabel is very clearly being downplayed by
the media. Isabel is a Cat. 5 storm on a slow and steady course for warmer
Gulf Stream waters. I cannot remember in my lifetime a hurricane this
well-structured, headed on such a ominous course toward the American Eastern
Seaboard. This may well turn out to be the storm of the new century, at
least decade. It could easily wipe out entire shoreside communities, from
the Carolinas up to the Jersey Shore. My projections have the storm sweeping
along Cape Hatteras and running up the coast. I think there is a chance
that Hatteras could experience 200+ mph winds and 40 foot storm surges.
The whole outer banks could realistically end up under water. Luckily
there is still about a week left to see what will actually happen.
