Washington Rejects Peace in Syria

Endless wars, instability and chaos in Syria, throughout the region and elsewhere serve Washington’s imperial agenda. Peace defeats it.

An earlier article called Russia/US agreed on ceasefire terms farcical. War rages more intensively than before they were implemented on Monday.

Moscow’s best efforts again failed. Irreconcilable differences with Washington remain. On Saturday, Russia’s UN envoy Vitaly Churkin said Lavrov and Kerry will meet on the sidelines of the General Assembly session next week, continuing talks on Syria, an exercise in futility so far with no hopeful signs of change.

Expect nothing meaningful accomplished regardless of what’s publicly announced, if anything. Russia wants diplomatic conflict resolution. America intends endless war, wanting Syria transformed into a US vassal state, its sovereignty destroyed, its leadership replaced by pro-Western puppet governance.

Syrian forces continue observing ceasefire terms despite dozens of US-backed terrorists’ violations daily. Earlier they withdrew as required from their Castillo Rd. positions - to open a safe zone humanitarian corridor so aid can be delivered to desperately needy people.

Syrian forces returned because of continued terrorist attacks. According to Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria deputy chief Sergey Kapitsyn, overnight Friday, “terrorist groups shelled the Syrian army troops’ positions with several mortar rounds and light machineguns,” seriously wounding two soldiers.

“(T)o prevent militants’ raid and capture of the government forces’ previous positions in Castillo, the Syrian military…deploy(ed) forces to three positions in the Castillo region” - an important defensive measure. So far, government forces continue observing ceasefire terms.

On September 17, Fars News reported ISIS terrorists shelling two northern Aleppo province villages with chemical weapons. Afrin Hospital medical staff reported victims suffering from toxic chemical poisoning.

Separately Fars News reported Israeli intelligence operatives recruiting hundreds of terrorist fighters - “mostly from Fatah al-Sham (along) Israel’s border with Syria…”

They’ve been “offer(ed) a large amount of money…to join (a) new force to fight against the Syrian government” - Fars News citing what informed sources told al-Safir.

Israel’s aim is “establish(ing) a new army of militants to fight against the Syrian government forces.” Ultranationalist Israeli war minister Avigdor Lieberman is involved in supporting and protecting them.

According to Israeli Kulanu party Knesset member Akram Hasson, “(w)e have gotten information from all fronts and from people who are responsible within the village that Fatah al-Sham is operating with unprecedented support from Israel, because the organization’s fighters are advancing in those places where the Israeli Forces had previously bombed Syrian positions and the organization is holding those positions, in addition to the logistical and medical assistance it’s getting from Israel.”

“This new strategy led by Lieberman…strengthen the Fatah al-Sham (terrorist group), and it’s raising its head to attack our brothers.”

He challenged Lieberman, saying “stop the support of the Fatah al-Sham Front immediately. It’s about time that we unite, and I call on all the MKs and the religious leadership headed by Sheikh Muwafaq Tarif to initiate an emergency meeting before our brothers in Khadr are slaughtered. There’s no time to wait.”

Israel and other rogue states allied with Washington’s imperial agenda make conflict resolution in Syria unattainable by diplomatic means.

On Saturday, Vladimir Putin said “terrorist forces (are) trying to regroup,” failing to observe Geneva’s regime of silence, using it advantageously.

He remains hopeful despite no indication of Washington’s willing to cooperate with Russia on resolving things diplomatically. Both countries remain world’s apart - intractably on opposite sides of the conflict.
