Food and Drug Administration 10903 New Hampshire Avenue Silver Spring, Maryland 20993 June 11, 2018 Dear Doctor Gottlieb: For many obvious and long standing reasons, I have been trying to get aspartame banned for decades. I am sending you a copy of my last letter to Dr. Joseph Thomas. No matter which way you turn in examining aspartame, there are multiple levels of corruption. As evidenced in my letter to Dr. Thomas, aspartame was never proven safe. The victim or doctor or activist usually writes their Senator or Congressman. He or she writes the FDA, who then sends back propaganda of the ilk of what I mentioned in the letter to Dr. Thomas. The legislator then writes the person back saying this is what the FDA said. The problem with all of this rigmarole is that it is all based on lies. There is no truth to it whatsoever. Aspartame was never proven safe and was marketed through the political chicanery of Don Rumsfeld with the help of President Reagan who wrote an executive order that prevented FDA Commissioner Dr. Jeri Goyan from signing the revoked petition for approval into law. I have spoken to Dr. Goyan's wife who told me, and wrote, that a member of Reagan's Transition team called at 3:00 AM and fired him so he could not sign the petition. She knew about the Executive Order which has now been made to disappear. We have the testimony of FDA scientist Dr. Adrian Gross, who did a great deal of the investigation saying aspartame is on the market illegally. He wrote that aspartame violated the Delaney Amendment, because it caused brain tumors and brain cancer without a shadow of a doubt. He said the FDA should never have been able to set an allowable daily intake and "if the FDA violates its own laws who is left to protect the people?" See the congressional records on my web site, www.mpwhi.com It's all a matter of public record. The politics are atrocious and millions of innocent victims have paid with their lives. Almost 100% of independent scientific peer reviewed research show how dangerous aspartame is. Medical texts have been written as you would expect with a poison that has been on the market for 30 years. The FDA always asks these days to be informed of the mechanism by which aspartame precipitates or triggers disease. So, Dr. Roberts, a world expert on aspartame wrote a 1000 page medical text giving the mechanism (Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic). I sent a copy to the FDA, and then Dr. Joseph Thomas lied and said it didn't show the mechanisms when that was the reason it was written. Then I had to quote different chapters so the public would know that key officials at the FDA were lying. I recently just typed in an entire chapter from Dr. H.J. Roberts' text on aspartame and diabetes, because it can precipitate the disease and because independent scientific peer reviewed research has shown it raises fasting blood sugar. We have an epidemic of obesity and diabetes and aspartame has shown to be a major culprit. Because the FDA never protected the people and lied to physicians and to the public about it being a safe additive, they think sugar is causing these epidemics. Now we have seen new “sugar taxes,” thus resulting in industry moving to save money by replacing sugar with aspartame that caused most of the epidemics in the first place. More diabetics will die. The FDA has changed the labeling on 17 dairy products; this truly is against the law. G. D. Searle in their secret trade information they were forced to submit in Congress even admitted that aspartame could not be used for everything. http://www.mpwhi.com/trade_ secret_information_on_ aspartame.htm Thus, they approved it for dry foods, fully knowing it would break down to formaldehyde at moderate temperatures, or at 86 degrees. Then they approved it for baking anyway, showing their complete lack of concern for the public. Then Dr. David Kessler stated in 1995 that if aspartame complaints could be lowered in 1996 they would make it a general sweetener, which even the manufacturer said could not be done! I wondered how even the FDA could get away with lowering existing complaints on aspartame. First of all, the FDA started refusing to take complaints. Continuously, aspartame victims called saying they were told the FDA was no longer accepting complaints. I expected this, but how could you manipulate existing, complaints already on the record, complaints lowered without just throwing them away? That's exactly what FDA did. Dr. H. J. Roberts called me one day reading a report from FDA stating they changed their bookkeeping system and had to throw away aspartame complaints. He was outraged that an agency of the government that is supposed to be protecting the public would do such a thing. This lowered the amount of cumulative complaints, so they made this addictive, excitoneurotoxic, genetically engineered, carcinogenic drug, adjuvant and teratogen into a “safe” general sweetener. This is a deadly drug that damages the mitochondria and interacts with drugs and vaccines! Aspartame violently interacts with pain-relieving drugs, and because it's now in so many generic pharmaceuticals, I recently was administered some without knowledge. When the hospital gave me something for pain, I broke out with urticaria and then stopped breathing. Later a physician at a hospital checked and found that all gastrointestinal generics had aspartame in them. When New Mexico tried to ban aspartame I personally spent an hour with the New Mexico Attorney General at that time, Gary King. He told me if I could show that the autism epidemic came from aspartame, he would step in and protect the children. Dr. Ken Stoller, a New Mexico Pediatrician at the time had already done the research and had graphs and everything necessary to prove the autism epidemic was due to aspartame. The New Mexico Attorney General abandoned his promise. The hideous politics of the FDA didn't even spare the children. On my web site you will see the FDA Board of Inquiry that revoked the petition for approval and you will see Dr. John Olney's testimony to the FDA saying birth defects were a given. www.mpwhi.com In talking with Dr. Olney's biochemist, Dr. Madelon Price, she stated that the FDA told Dr. Olney they would see to it that even though Rumsfeld got aspartame approved, no child would ever be given it. They then asked Big Pharma not to put out these pediatric cough syrups and such because they thought there was something in them that caused their death. It's called aspartame. Giving babies a deadly chemical poison is a horror story indeed. Then when FDA Jerome Bressler retired (who did the famous Bressler Report), he pleaded with me to find the teratology/birth defects studies and add them back to his report because the FDA had sealed those records so the public wouldn't find out aspartame caused birth defects. In one case, a woman drank Diet Coke through 3 pregnancies and has 3 autistic children. She and her husband work two jobs so when they die somebody can care for them. It took me 8 years to find those records. They have been added back to the Bressler Report, showing such things as neural tube defects, spina bifida and cleft palate. The FDA for years refused to release these reports. One FDA official said they were old and had been shredded. Yet after I made them public FDA did release some to Dr. Woodrow Monte who wrote the book, "While Science Sleeps: A Sweetener Kills". Imagine no pregnancy warning on a product with a methyl ester that becomes free methyl alcohol! And that's not the only ingredient that causes birth defects. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee is full of children with brain tumors because their pregnant mothers were not warned about birth defects. FDA has used every trick to not protect the public. Instead of removing aspartame from the market by rescinding its approval, they have compounded this egregious on going catastrophe, and have approved more aspartame products like Advantame. The biggest study was done on the public. The Trocho study showed the formaldehyde from the free methyl alcohol embalms living tissue and damages DNA. That explains a lot, yet with not a peep out of FDA! There are class action suits for deceptive advertising calling soda "diet". Millions have suffered from neurodegenerative diseases and cancers while FDA sits back and pumps out lies. What does it take, Dr. Gottlieb, to get this poison off the market? How can FDA protect the public when they are responsible for the mass poisoning of the American public and countries the world over that rubberstamped their approval? What a disgrace. Will you sweep this letter under the corruption also or do you care how many will continue to perish? Even cancer studies showing that aspartame is a multipotential carcinogen have been refused to be accepted by FDA. Harvard did a study as well, proving cancer and even leukemia. With the news of studies showing aspartame causes so many different cancers industry made sure no agency would accept these independent scientific studies peer reviewed by several world experts. Dr. Herman Koeter, head of the committee with EFSA resigned from his position, telling the press that they were pressured by industry to “hijack science.” The studies were so prestigious that Dr. Morando Soffritti who did the study at the renowned Ramazzini Institute received an award given only twice in history. I was in New York and saw him receive the award. The aspartame industry excuse was the rats had respiratory illness. Dr. Soffritti told them, of course, they had respiratory problems - the studies were based on a lifetime. Respiratory problems are part the dying process and the rats were dying. The FDA said there were problems and that they simply would not accept three studies by this famous institute for independent testing. Then Harvard came out with a study linking aspartame to cancer, stating that their study was the longest and strongest study to date. Industry got to them so fast the next day they apologized for publishing it. No peep out of FDA again. I surmise that FDA officials couldn't think of a way to deny it and hoped that it would go away. How many more have to die while FDA pumps out propaganda and violates the law? I've been warning the public for 28 years, as have also hundreds of Mission Possible activists all over the world. Because the FDA failed, the people's operations like ours had to be set up to save as many as we could. The Center for Disease Control investigation on aspartame was so damning they wouldn't even put it on their CDC web site. Somebody got a doctor to simply give a summary that contradicted the investigation. When I called the CDC and asked why they allowed a false summary on their web site instead of the investigation, they told me it was too late to take down the false summary because that particular doctor had now retired. Who thinks up these excuses, Walt Disney? This is a life and death matter. Innocent victims are dying all over the world from Rumsfeld's Plague. I told that to an FDA agent who called in 2009 when FDA scientists admitted they were broken. He said, "So what? We have to depopulate." That certainly tells you how much the FDA cares about the protection of the public. My sincere hope is that you might prove to be a different kind of FDA Commissioner. I look forward to your reply.
