That this House expresses deep concern over the numerous independent toxicological studies and thousands of subjective reports attesting to the toxic effects of the artificial sweetener aspartame on human health; notes that aspartame, once patented as a biochemical warfare agent, is the synthetically produced methyl ester of a dipeptide which is readily broken down in the gut to release methanol; further notes that in naturally occurring foodstuff methanol is either not released into the body or present together with natural defence mechanisms that mitigate its toxic effects; recognises that methanol is a well known poison and is further converted into formaldehyde, a class A carcinogen according to the World Health Organisation's International Agency for Research on Cancer; accepts that severe health concerns occur from the gradual accumulation of formaldehyde in the body which cannot be excreted and that further research has shown that long term low level exposure to formaldehyde induces leukaemia and nasopharyngeal cancer in humans; acknowledges that of the 166 studies conducted on aspartame's safety deemed relevant to humans, 92 per cent. of independently sponsored studies identified one or more problems with aspartame's safety whereas industry-sponsored studies found unanimously in favour of aspartame's safety; and urges the Government to abide by the precautionary principle and make use of Statutes 13 and 16 of the 1990 Food Safety Act to remove aspartame from the permitted list of additives on the UK market."

I've lectured in Scotland on the deadliness of aspartame as a killing machine. Today sugar is blamed for the obesity epidemic when its obvious that it has been caused by aspartame. In fact, there are now six class actions, three in New York and three in California based on deceptive advertising calling soda "diet" when it causes the victim to gain weight, and its cumulative. The National Soft Drink Assn (now American Beverage) protested to the FDA using Dr. Richard Wurtman's affidavit that aspartame would make you crave carbohydrates, a diet product causing weight gain. I know you have the power and influence to save the people of Scotland. How heroic it would be if you could get it banned and save thousands of lives. Also, you might be interested in what is going on in Canada. Since people have been warned about aspartame the world over its hard to sell, except to those addicted to it, so it appears they are working toward getting rid of the labeling. Here is the problem that needs to be brought to the attention of the public. Aspartame is not an additive. It's an addictive, excitoneurotoxic, genetically engineered, carcinogenic drug, adjuvant (immune stimulator) and teratogen (causes birth defects). Aspartame damages the mitochondria or powerhouse of the cell and interacts with drugs and vaccines.
So what can happen if someone drinks this called "favorite" drink of Scotland called Im-Bru with now added aspartame? If they are using any medication the aspartame can interact. Because here in the US they are constantly adding aspartame to drugs, especially generic ones, I've prepared a Hospital Form to prevent doctors in hospitals from prescribing anything that has it in it. In the form I've added the entire chapter on drug interaction from the 1000 page medical text, "Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic" by H. J. Roberts, M.D. that is incidentally dedicated to me for my years of educating the public aspartame is a poison. I've been educating the public on aspartame for 28 years, and working with world experts and researchers. In fact, when I was in the hospital myself I was prescribed Zofran and Raglan. The generics contain aspartame. I was given something for pain and aspartame violently interacts with pain medication. I stopped breathing on three occasions before I did some research and found out aspartame was in the prescribed medication.

He asked me to wait while he did his own research and when he returned said, "I do apologize but aspartame is in "ALL" the gastrointestinal generic drugs. You can't take any medication and I would suggest you report to your surgeon which I did. Dr. H. J. Roberts always use to complain about this, that aspartame triggers gastrointestinal disease and then Big Pharma allows aspartame in the drugs used to treat it.
In the US the news is full of articles about the opioid explosion and the deaths because of it. I've been aware of it for some time because I write the obituary articles on many of the celebrities who were using aspartame, like in Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi, or any of the more than 14,000 foods containing aspartame. It's in thousands of drugs. What if someone was using Im-Bru with aspartame and she was pregnant? Since aspartame is an abortifacient she might lose the baby. If she is able to carry it the baby could be born with all sorts of birth defects since its a teratogen. In original studies it caused neural tube defects, spina bifida and cleft palate for starters. The FDA sealed these studies so the public would not know its really a drug and can cause horrible birth defects It took me 8 years to find them, and return them to the famous Bressler Report: http://www.mpwhi.com/complete_ bressler_report.pdf Dr. Morando Soffritti who did the famous Ramazzini Studies showing aspartame to be a multipotential carcinogen exposed that if a pregnant woman using aspartame was able to deliver the child could grow up to cancer. What if someone uses Im-Bru with aspartame and is diabetic? Aspartame has not only precipitated an epidemic of diabetes but it aggravates and simulates diabetic retinopathy and neuropathy, destroys the optic nerve from the methanol, causes the diabetic to go into convulsions and even interacts with insulin. This is described in full in Dr. H. J. Roberts medical text mentioned above. Dr. Roberts was an endocrinologist or diabetic expert. He passed away a few years ago but left me his 30 years of research on aspartame.
The whole issue of the sugar tax has been over the epidemic of obesity. However, going from sugar to aspartame is like pouring gasoline on fire, and defeats the purpose since its the aspartame causing the obesity epidemic. Some people may use too much sugar but it has been known from the beginning that aspartame would cause the consumer to gain weight. Here is a note to Pepsi including the protest of the National Soft Drink Association, now American Beverage, mentioning Dr. Wurtman's affidavit that aspartame makes you crave carbohydrates. http://www. rense.com/general96/pepsi.htm Here is that quote: " Aspartame has been demonstrated to inhibit the carbohydrate-induced-synthesis of the neurotransmitter serotonin (Wurtman affidavit) Serotonin blunts the sensation of craving carbohydrates and thus is part of the body's feedback system that helps limit consumption of carbohydrate to appropriate levels. Its inhibition by aspartame could lead to the anomalous result of a diet product causing increased consumption of carbohydrates." So the pop companies knew before they ever used it that it would cause an epidemic of obesity.
In discussing the obesity epidemic there are already 6 class actions on aspartame because of deceptive advertising, calling soda pop diet when it causes you to gain weight.

Whoever is responsible for adding aspartame to Scotland's favorite drink should think again. Aspartame is a killing machine. Dr. Russell Blaylock, author of "Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills" about aspartame and MSG, said in a lecture: "Understand the reactions to aspartame are not allergic but toxic like arsenic and cyanide." We're talking about a chemical poison.
