Dear Dr. Thomas: Even though you say there is no imminent health hazard petition anymore, what I sent you certified was a petition to ban aspartame regardless. Do you want me to resend it to you changing the title to "Petition to Ban Aspartame". It should be acceptable the way it is. Just let me know. Regardless of what you want to call it. Look in Dr. Roberts medical text and even he mentions its an imminent health hazard, and has been since the day it was marketed. The regular petition to ban gives you by law 180 days to answer it. Obviously, there have been many many studies since 2002 when I sent the first petition., In 2007 when I sent you the second petition based on an imminent health hazard it was accepted, but FDA added it to the original petition. We don't appreciate these letters that state you have more important things to do you send everyone. It appears that is FDA's loophole for postponing having to deal with the ban. What is more important than banning a chemical poison that is causing disability and death? It took FDA over a decade to answer the first one, did not answer the evidence and the letter was never sent. We got it from the National Law Review. Most articles that have come in for years expose aspartame with health problems discussed in the medical text, "Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic" by H. J. Roberts, M.D., and others. The aspartame industry and those they pay often get propaganda published, especially after a lot of peer reviewed research shows the deadliness of aspartame. When the research gets world attention they do a "review". All of them have been exposed, especially at the Aspartame Toxicity Center, www.holisticmed.com/aspartame and published in magazines. I was interested in one titled "Are they safe?" Notice it outlines the criteria for approving a sweetener trying to convince the public aspartame is safe. If this benchmark was true they would have a case but instead FDA is nothing but another PR firm protecting the aspartame industry. It is easy to prove FDA failure but requires I repeat myself once more. However, this information has never been answered. Here are the principles: "Artificial sweeteners are closely regulated and have passed the necessary checks to be used in foods. 1. "Does not cause adverse effects, including cancer. 2, "Does not affect reproduction. 3. "Is not stored within the body or metabolized into other potentially unsafe products. 4. "Does not cause allergic reactions. So lets see if aspartame passed. #1 Failed. Aspartame did cause adverse effects including cancer. On August 1, 1985, FDA scientist Dr. Adrian Gross, told Congress at least one of Searle's studies has established beyond any reasonable doubt that aspartame is capable of inducing brain tumors in experimental animals and that this predisposition of it is of extremely high significance.... In view of these indications that the cancer causing potential of aspartame is a matter that had been established way beyond any reasonable doubt , one can ask: What is the reason for the apparent refusal by the FDA to invoke for this food additive the so-called Delaney Amendment to the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act?" The Delaney Amendment makes it illegal to allow any residue of cancer-causing chemicals in foods. Dr Gross concluded by asking, Given the cancer-causing potential of aspartame, how would the FDA justify its position that it views a certain amount of aspartame as constituting an allowable daily intake or safe level of it? Is that position in effect not equivalent to setting a tolerance for this food additive and thus a violation of that law? And if the FDA itself elects to violate the law, who is left to protect the health of the public? Congressional Record SID835:131 (8/1/85) Dr. Gross was one of the chief scientists that investigated aspartame and asked for the indictment for fraud. He was involved with the task force. The results were so bad against G. D, Searle they filed suit to get the FDA remarks off the record. Of course, we have them. Even a 52 week oral toxicity study on 7 infant monkeys showed 5 had grand mal seizures and 1 died. This was even used as pivotal in the approval process. There are so many seizures triggered by aspartame that Dr. Woodrow Monte took this issue and the blindness from the methanol all the way to the Supreme Court which was not heard no doubt due to the power of the aspartame industry. The bill that never got out of committee listed a few including seizures, behavioral problems, what it does to the fetus (birth defects) and drug interactions. He wanted "independent studies" on these aspartame triggered health problems. FDA was so covered up in complaints it was stated in congressional hearings they were referring them to the AIDS Hotline. As I have mentioned several times aspartame was marketed through the political chicanery of Don Rumsfeld. The FDA had revoked the petition for approval and to stop it G. D. Searle sued. Rumsfeld got President Reagan to write an executive order making the FDA powerless to sign the revoked petition into law. Now you have told me you addressed all this. I'm the one who brought it up and you have not addressed it to me. I'm still waiting, I have told you these things many times and never got a reply. Only the guilty take the fifth. Since 2002 there have been more studies proving Dr. Gross' words of truth that aspartame causes cancer. Dr. Morando Soffritti of the Ramazzini Institute performed three aspartame studies all show aspartame is a multipotential carcinogen. FDA wouldn't accept these prestigious studies peer reviewed by 7 world experts as EFSA wouldn't because of industry power. As the head of EFSA's committee, Dr. Herman Koeter, said to the press when he resigned "We were pressured by industry to hijack science." I think that explains very briefly why EFSA and FDA refused to act. This was a carefully done study, which clearly demonstrated a statistically significant increase in several types of lymphomas and leukemias in rats. Both of these malignancies have increased significantly in this country since the widespread use of aspartame." He also said: This study confirmed the previous study by Dr. Trocho and co-workers, which also found the formaldehyde breakdown product of aspartame to be damaging to cellular DNA and that this damage was accumulative. The type of damage was a duplicate of that associated with cancers. Along with this most recent study, this means that drinking a single diet cola sweetened with aspartame every day could increase one's risk of developing a lymphoma or leukemia. You should read his book, "Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills". So how much is that risk, Dr. Thomas? According to the study by Harvard there was a 42% risk just in a single diet soda daily. The risk for men as to multiple myeloma was 102% and 31% in men in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. I notice FDA has made no statement about the Harvard Study. When they released it they said it was the longest and strongest on the aspartame link to cancer. Why hasn't FDA pulled it from the market instead of approving another aspartame product, Advantame? Just last week someone was telling me about a woman who was drinking diet soda all the time. I said, "Get her off of it, it causes leukemia!" He said, "She already has leukemia and is dying." So where is FDA's warning it causes leukemia. It has been proven in scientific peer reviewed studies! It is very obvious to the public that FDA won't accept scientific peer reviewed research if its unbiased or independent, only if it comes from industry protecting its product. If it couldn't be proven safe for approval, and FDA tried to indict them for fraud, how could FDA accept industry studies today? According to the FDA Board of Inquiry report, which is on my web site, www.mpwhi.com the reason it was revoked was that it caused brain tumors and couldn't be proven safe. What FDA's report should say today is industry studies can't be accepted because the one thing G. D. Searle did prove was aspartame is not safe and caused brain tumors. #2. It's not suppose to effect reproduction. FDA failed again. In Dr. H. J. Roberts medical text I sent, you have but to look it up and it will tell you aspartame is an endocrine disrupting agent, stimulates prolactin, changes the menses and causes infertility. Then if you get off of it and get pregnant its both an abortifacient and teratogen. I've already sent you the entire chapter from Dr. Woodrow Monte's medical text, "While Science Sleeps: A Sweetener Kills" on aspartame and autism, and how G. D. Searle made a deal with FDA to seal the teratology studies so the public wouldn't know it triggered such things as neural tube defects, spina bifida and cleft palate. Interesting that class actions on such things as Zofran have to do with these problems now being seen in the offspring of mothers who used aspartame. In the case of Zofran aspartame is in the generic and doctors gave it to pregnant women who were having morning sickness. It was given to me for nausea and I didn't know until later it had aspartame in it. I stopped breathing three times because it interacted with a pain killer at the hospital. Autism has increased 2500% since aspartame was approved. These are the real facts of the matter. Dr. Ken Stoller investigated and his research shows autism going straight up and linked to aspartame approval. As FDA knows very well since in the beginning they themselves tried to prevent marketing, that aspartame is a chemical poison and should never have been approved for human consumption. It is shipped today like other poisons by Hazmat placard. It violates adulteration and interstate commerce laws. When they have a spill the responders come out in space suits/1. One article from years ago said it eats concrete. Yet FDA allows it to be given to babies and children. And #3 about it not suppose to be stored within the body or metabolized into other potentially unsafe products. FDA fails again. The Trocho Study showed the methanol converts to formaldehyde and embalms living tissue and damages DNA. Formaldehyde is a Class A carcinogen. It turns the tissues to plastic as Dr. Monte brings out in his medical text. The methanol is causing aspartame users to go blind. Aspartame is a killing machine. It's cumulative. Read about the pre-embalming in Dr. Roberts medical text you have. #4 It's not suppose to cause allergic reactions and FDA fails again because aspartame is a chemical hypersensitization drug and some victims have to carry epi-pens which sky rocked and now there are articles about them being hard to even get. Every time I accidently get it I break out in urticaria all over my body. It is more than allergic reactions when it comes down to it. Dr. Russell Blaylock, neurosurgeon, in a lecture I attended said "Understand the reactions to aspartame are not allergic but toxic like arsenic and cyanide.". Aspartame mass poisons.. FDA couldn't pass one criteria for aspartame being a safe additive, not to mention aspartame is not even an additive but an addictive excitoneurotoxic carcinogenic, genetically engineered drug, adjuvant and teratogen,. I want these statements added to the petition I sent in. Consider this email part of it. FDA flunked all the criteria for a safe product. As to an acceptable daily intake remember Dr. Gross said FDA should not have been able to even set one because it causes cancer.. The medical text is part of this petition so you can't come back and say "we have to have the mechanisms by which it causes disease". As you know, when you lied about the medical text not giving the mechanisms I quoted some of the text explaining the mechanisms so the public would know this was an outright lie. The criteria for safety FDA failed, those prerequisites have not been met. Furthermore, look at all the "independent" peer reviewed studies that have come in since 2002. Let me start you out by showing you a couple of them. This petition to ban is on all the sweeteners with aspartame because it was never proven safe and never will. They all had the same question - 'why are we getting 20 and 30 year olds with Alzheimers? An informant said the National Soft Drink Assn, now American Beverage, did a ten year study on aspartame and found Alzheimers, birth defects and blindness. The FAA said they knew but officially they couldn't tell the pilots not to use it because FDA approved it. So they tell them on the side. Think of the crew and people on those planes with the pilots using an excitoneurotoxin. They are not allowed to drink alcohol yet use diet pop and suffer the consequences of methanol. After one pilot dropped dead with diet pop in hand I spoke to his wife. She said, "American had an autopsy done but refused to let me see it." There have been many car crashes. Victim Lane Shore totaled his car, as did his father-in-law as they blacked out on aspartame. Mary Reilly who was on the Deborah Duncan show with me in Texas had aspartame seizures, blacked out, crashed and went blind from the methanol. She got off aspartame and by the time she was on the show her sight had returned. However, her wrists were slit because she said on aspartame she had suicidal tendencies,. People are getting DUI's from diet pop because of the methanol. Don't call them anecdotes, Dr. Thomas. They are subjects in a study they did not agree to be part of, performed on the people of the world without their permission,. For almost 40 years the FDA could have banned it but refused even though they never found it safe, and banned it twice themselves, in 1974 and when they revoked the petition for approval and said" it couldn't be proven safe". Instead of protecting the public, FDA has protected industry. On this subject, Dr. Woodrow Monte said in his medical text, "While Science Sleeps: A Sweetener Kills" -- "This tragic exercise in political food additive approval against the advice of the best informed of the scientific community turns out to have been an experiment of untold utility to those of us who have an interest in methanol toxicity. Throughout this book I have been lamenting that methanol toxicity can only be tested on humans. What better way to test methanol than to administer it secretly to an enormous human population over a long period of time and then look for changes in the disease distribution of that population - particularly the diseases that can be linked to the biochemical behavior of methanol? When the official word was released, the extremely popular diet drink that we discussed above with millions of consumers had its formula changed virtually overnight, with the effect of producing a spike of methanol consumption in a population that had not been previously exposed to that product .,,.., an epidemiologist's dream come true. " It was no dream come true for the unsuspecting public who without their permission began a nightmare participation in mass poisoning. And the FDA was part of the corruptness because they knew and did nothing. As FDA was told over 30 years ago by Dr. James Bowen: " In my opinion, this has resulted in the MASS POISONING of the American public as well as seventy-plus countries in the rest of the world. Watching FDA officials walk through the "revolving door" and be further rewarded by being promoted to other positions of high public responsibility is clear evidence of a government out of control." Methyl alcohol is metabolized to nascent formaldehyde in the eye, nervous system and other metabolically active organs. It immediately attacks and denatures the tissue structure proteins in which is metabolized to nascent formaldehyde. This stimulates specific organ and subcellular autoimmunity which seems to be a preponderant source of the bad experiences reported by NutraSweet victims. Aspartic Acid is a neuroexcitotoxic present in damaging amounts, it own right, at the ADI for aspartame. Simple logic tells one that it will vastly increase the metabolism of methyl alcohol to formaldehyde attach there. This corresponds well with the symptomalogies often experienced, such as Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS), bulbar palsies, neurohormonal disorders, diketopiperazine issue remains totally unresolved and dangerous. The amino acids that are released by hydrolysis, form eimers and isomers that are either not sufficiently studied, or which are known substrates in undesirable pathological states such as Alzheimer's disease." For years physicians and researchers have told the FDA that aspartame is unsafe for human consumption. I never gave up, but the tide took so very long to turn., "There are those who need thanking but that will have to wait 'til we are done - 'til there is no danger that might go part and parcel with the platitudes of a grateful scholar. Your time will come, you know who you are..I love you all. "Til all the demons are dead." Woodrow Monte Dr. Thomas, FDA must remove the demons and ban aspartame. This addendum to the petition to ban will be read the world over. Everyone is being asked to send a copy to their congressman and senator. It's time for the FDA to apologize to the US and the world for this mass poisoning.
