The Myth of Moderate Rebels in Syria

It’s a US-orchestrated hoax Russia goes along with. All anti-government forces in Syria are US-backed terrorists, death squads imported from scores of countries, used by Washington to advance its imperium.

How then can nonexistent moderates be separated from Security Council-designated terrorists as Geneva terms stipulate?

Why does Russia insist on it, a Foreign Ministry statement, saying “Lavrov drew attention to the violation of the regime of cessation of hostilities by illegal armed groups and called on Washington to waste no time to implement its promise to separate units of the moderate opposition from Jabhat al-Nusra and other terrorist groups not covered by the ceasefire.”

“He noted that the list of groups signing agreements on ceasefire observance that was received from the US side has a number of openly terrorist groups having close contacts with Jabhat al-Nusra.”

Why do he and Kerry maintain the myth of ceasefire terms being largely observed when Damascus and Russia’s Defense Ministry reported dozens of daily breaches - solely by US-backed terrorists.

On Friday, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman General Igor Konashenkov minced no words blasting Washington, saying all it’s alleged attempts “to show the world the opposition it has been sponsoring is controllable to some extent have been futile.”

“Although the ceasefire agreement is bilateral, only one party implements it in reality,” the Syrian government and its military. Washington agreed to ceasefire, yet willfully obstructs it.

Documents Russia received from the Pentagon showed Obama officials did nothing to fulfill Geneva terms, terrorists posing as moderates “using the ceasefire regime to restore (their) combat capabilities and regroup its forces in…Aleppo, Hama and Homs.”

On Thursday, the Russian reconciliation center made several futile attempts to contact US officials on their responsibility for non-fulfillment of Geneva terms.

“Intense” fighting continues. Ceasefire is farcical. None exists. Pretending otherwise betrays millions of suffering Syrians deserving better.

It’s time to abandon a one-sided deal, a lost cause - Syrian and Russian forces observing ceasefire while US-supported terrorists, masquerading as moderates, continue massacring civilians.

The longer the charade continues, the worse off they’ll be. Chances for America to work cooperatively with Russia in combating terrorism in Syria or elsewhere are nil.

Bipartisan neocons infesting Washington support the scourge free people everywhere want defeated. Endless Russia/US talks won’t change reality.
