Latest Anti-Trump Media Assault

By Stephen Lendman

At the start of his first foreign trip, departing Friday, lasting nine days, returning home next weekend, America’s two leading broadsheets sent him on his way with denigrating reports.

Along with other media scoundrels, it’s part of their sinister plot to weaken, delegitimize, and oust him from office for wrongheaded reasons, not warranted ones.

The deplorable NYT headlined “Trump Told Russians That Firing ‘Nut Job’ Comey Eased Pressure From Investigation,” saying:

During Sergey Lavrov’s Oval Office visit, along with ambassador Sergey Kislyak, Trump reportedly said “ ‘I just fired the head of the FBI. He was crazy, a real nut job,’ ” according to an unnamed US official, the president allegedly adding:

“I faced great pressure because of Russia, That’s taken off. I’m not under investigation.” The Times has no credible evidence of what Trump said, just unverified allegations, using them to jump all over him, saying:

Firing Comey “reinforces the notion that the president dismissed him primarily because of the bureau’s investigation into possible collusion between (his) campaign and Russian operatives.”

According to press secretary Sean Spicer, “(b)y grandstanding and politicizing the investigation into Russia’s actions, James Comey created unnecessary pressure on our ability to engage and negotiate with Russia.”

“The investigation would have always continued, and obviously, the termination of Comey would not have ended it. Once again, the real story is that our national security has been undermined by the leaking of private and highly classified conversations.”

Accusations of Russian US election hacking, along with alleged improper activities by Trump team with Moscow are all about Kremlin bashing and a plot to oust the president from office.

The Times lied claiming Trump “disclosed (classified) intelligence” to Lavrov and Kislyak. No such disclosure occurred.

Nor was justice obstructed for firing Comey, as The Times, other media scoundrels and many Democrats suggested.

The neocon/CIA house organ Washington Post headlined “Russia probe reaches current White House official, people familiar with the case say,” claiming:

An unnamed “significant person of interest” was identified, “someone close to the president…Current administration officials who have acknowledged contacts with Russian officials include President Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, as well as Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.”

Contacts are customary practices, nothing suggesting improper or criminal activities. Since investigations into alleged Russia US election hacking and possible improper Trump team dealings with Russia, no corroborating evidence was found. None exists.

Breitbart News was right, saying “(t)he common element in nearly all the major New York Times and Washington Post stories about President Donald Trump this week is that they are based on source documents the outlets cannot authenticate, do not possess, admit are partial, and refuse to share.”

Maybe they don’t exist or perhaps what’s in them is much different than reports suggest. If hard evidence of Russia US election hacking and/or Trump team improper dealings with Moscow existed, it would have been publicly reported with credible documentation.

Instead just baseless accusations, allegations, innuendo, distortions, disinformation and damn lies - the stuff propaganda is made of, rubbish media scoundrels feature daily, polar opposite responsible journalism, why their reporting lacks credibility. Ignore them!
