Insane US Threatens Cyber Terrorist Attack On Russia

By Stephen Lendman

On November 4, NBC News reported “US military hackers have penetrated Russia’s electric grid, telecommunications networks and the Kremlin’s command systems, making them vulnerable to attack by secret American cyber weapons should the US deem it necessary, according to (an unnamed) senior intelligence official and top-secret documents reviewed by NBC News.”

The news agency cited unnamed US officials, saying Russia, China and other nations “prepar(ed) the battlefield” for cyberattacks on America. If its report is accurate, Washington targeted Russia and other countries the same way.

No evidence suggests Moscow intends interfering in next week’s election, despite hysterical claims otherwise. Last month in Sochi, speaking at the Valdai International Discussion Club, Putin debunked what he called “mythical and fictitious” issues, explaining:

“It’s much simpler to distract people with so-called Russian hackers, spies, and agents of influence. Does anyone really think that Russia could influence the American people’s choice in any way? Is America a banana republic or what? America is a great power.”

Russia isn’t planning a cyber or military attack on anyone, he added. Julian Assange explained it didn’t hack DNC or Clinton campaign emails. Blaming Moscow is part of escalating US hostility, perhaps heading for war if Hillary succeeds Obama.

In response to NBC’s report, Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said “(m)easures of ensuring cyber security and information security are taken at a level matching the current moment, and also the threats voiced against us at the official level by the representatives of other countries.”

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said “(i)n connection with the mass media reports that US military hackers have penetrated Russia’s telecommunications networks and electric grid and also ‘the Kremlin’s command systems,’ we expect the reaction of the US authorities, including the White House and the Department of State, with the legal assessment of this information.”

“The lack of an official reaction from the American administration will mean state cyberterrorism exists in the US. In case the threats broadcast by US mass media are put into effect, Moscow will have the full right to bring accusations against Washington.”

In 2014, NSA chief Admiral Mike Rogers told Congress US adversaries are able to disrupt industrial controls, affecting everything from the electrical power grid to factories, water treatment plants and much more.

“All that leads me to believe it is only a matter of when, not if, we are going to see something dramatic,” he said.

Not likely except in self-defense against hostile US action, Rogers didn’t explain, nor NSA spying on virtually everyone illegally, including ordinary people threatening no one.
