Lab Results Prove 'Healthy Salt ™'
Far Better Than Pink Himalayan Salt

From Eileen Durfee
11-25-17

Himalayan 'pink' Salt is a very popular salt with over 74,000 monthly search returns on Google, followed by regular sea salt at 33,100 and 'Celtic' sea salt at 5,400.  Pink Himalayan salt was discovered around 325 BC in Khewra, Pakistan.  Centuries later, standardized salt mining practices were introduced to make it more widely available.  Finally, those mining techniques were improved to the 'Room and Pillar' excavation method in 1827.  Ever since that time, Himalayan pink salt has been mined and sold for human consumption.

About Himalayan Salt

Himalayan Salt is mined from an ancient ocean deposit along the Himalayan Mountain foothills in Northeast Pakistan and goes for around 186 miles, approximately between the Jhelum River to the Indus River. The salt deposits vary from 5 to 19 miles wide, and are mined using traditional excavations methods.

The book “Water & Salt: The Essence Of Life: The Healing Power of Nature” was written January 1, 2003 by Barbara Hendel and Peter Ferreira and recommended making and drinking a Himalayan salt sole. Numerous other health advocates have also recommended making the sole, and provide instructions for making various concentrations for different health purposes.

Testing Trace Elements in Himalayan Salt

Unfortunately, Himalayan salt has a very limited amount of trace elements  (2.06%), a pH of 6.15, and a sodium chloride content of 97.35% (37.4% sodium and 59.8% chloride).  Considering that 1.24% of the Himalayan Pink Salt trace elements is sulfur that only leaves 0.82% for body mineral balancing.  In controlled tests Ron Garner, BEd, MSc [i] took three (3) 225 ml water samples of 7.01 pH with an ORP value of 156, and added three different salts: Himalayan pink salt, sea salt, and happy mood salt for comparison of dissolved sole pH and ORP values.

A higher pH in food salt is said to alkalinize the body, and a lower ORP value means more anti-oxidant properties are available. The Himalayan pink salt water pH lowered to an acid 6.01 with gram of pink salt to a maximum of 6.15 pH with 8 grams. Additionally, harmful oxidation increased, to  a 160 ORP with 1/2 gram to a 182 ORP with 8 grams of Himalayan pink salt.  Both the other salt samples increased in pH and lowered in ORP values, which is the goal of creating a Healthy Salt ™ water sole.

Sodium chloride and trace mineral readings of the other salts used in the tests were more desirable than the Himalayan pink salt. Sea salt sample used contained 83.9% sodium chloride (33% sodium, 50.9% chloride) and 16.1% trace minerals; and the happy mood salt sample contained 80% sodium chloride (35.3% sodium, 44.7% chloride) and 20% trace minerals.

HIGHEST pH And Lowest Sodium With A Wide Range Of Critical Sea Minerals As Well

The very best salt, Healthy Salt ™ by Creatrix Solutions, has been identified and thoroughly tested that contains the lowest sodium chloride, highest pH, lowest moisture, smallest particle size and highest trace mineral percentage to support healthy alkalinity and mineral balancing. Healthy Salt ™TM boasts the highest pH of 10.72, contains 76.27% sodium chloride (23.03% sodium and 53.24% chloride), 0.35% moisture, 3.49% fat and a significant amount of trace minerals in comparison to all other salts. Some salts can contain as much as 10% moisture, such as Celtic sea salt, and the Hawaiian bamboo jade sea salt is 4.5%. Healthy Salt ™TM also contains healthy levels of calcium, copper, iodine, iron, lithium, magnesium, manganese, potassium, sulfur, and zinc compared to other salts. Mesh screen testing showed 86.1% of Healthy Salt ™ passed through a #65 mesh, 78.2% through a #80 mesh and 18.8% through a #200 mesh. In other words, a majority of the Healthy Salt ™TM particles measure about 177 microns or .0070 inches, and their small particle size enhances absorption into the body.

Clearly the benefits of healthy forms of salt and minerals are being rediscovered, and incorporated into foods being prepared all over the world. However, the most popular Himalayan pink salt being sold today is not scientifically measuring up to the successful marketing campaigns for making and drinking sole. As it turns out Healthy Salt ™ TM is more convenient, effective and best taken directly by mouth, and as saliva forms it is swished around and slowly swallowed. It works great because microbes are not able to survive in a high pH environment, so Healthy Salt ™ TMsupports oral hygiene and health, besides increasing alkalinity and minerals.

Healthy Salt ™TM is beginning to positively affect people in a relatively short amount of time as evidenced by online product reviews.  One such person conducted a significant amount of research after using the Healthy Salt ™ and asked for his “Salt Journey” to be shared with others in this blog post.

MY SALT JOURNEY
By Vince Transparenti

Growing up my brothers and I were scolded by our mother at meal times if we reached for the salt shaker. She said it was very bad for our health. She meant well but was very misinformed. According to Dr. David Brownstein, “Salt is the most misunderstood nutrient out there. There is a lot of misinformation and falsehoods that are perpetuated about salt. We are taught from a young age that salt is bad, that healthy people avoid salt, there is too much salt in food, salt is causing hypertension and heart disease and a whole host of other ailments. These are truly myths that are wrong. The fact is some salts are good and some salts are bad”.

Dr. Fereydoon Batmanghelidj (1931-2004), author of Your Body’s Many Cries for Water believed humans need to focus on drinking quality water and eating quality salt first, then diet and exercise in that order. He calculated a human’s minimal water requirement, in ounces, is half their body weight. He stated for every quart of water we need a teaspoon of unrefined salt to balance intracellular and extracellular fluids. The second step he believed were balanced proteins and a lot of vegetables (largely for pH regulation due to their alkalinity) and thirdly daily exercise/activity. According to Anne Marie Helmenstine, Ph.D. the human body is made up of over 60% water and 6% minerals. Considering this, it makes sense that Dr. Batmanghelidj achieved superb results with such a simple formula.

Dr. Paul C. Eck (1925-1996), the founder of Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis stated that a person who avoids salt will begin to rapidly age by around age 30 or so. When I was in my twenties my hair started falling out. I developed cold hands and feet due to hypothyroidism. I was constipated. The list could go on. Up until that point in my life I had never drank enough water and when I did drink it, it was tap water. I also had always consumed the wrong kind of salt refined white table salt. Table salt is what was in my family’s salt shaker. However, I received most of my refined salt intake from canned goods and processed foods.

Table Salt versus Unrefined Salt

Refined white table salt has been made for over 100 years. It can come from the ocean or can be mined from underground salt deposits. It is bleached. It is treated with chemicals to remove minerals (which are sold for use in industry). It is heated to temperatures over 1200 F which chemically alters the salt. Different anti-caking agents may be used such as sodium ferro cyanide and sodium aluminosilicate. The sodium chloride (salt) content of refined salt is 97-99%.

Since the 1920s refined salt has been iodized. This may sound like a good thing but according to Lynne Farrow, author of The Iodine Crisis: What You Don’t Know About Iodine Can Wreck Your Life, the iodide in refined salt is only about 10% bioavailable! Also, dextrose, a simple sugar made from corn (most likely genetically modified corn) is usually added to stabilize the iodide. Furthermore, according to mineral researcher and geneticist, Dr. Richard Olree, humans cannot absorb iodide in the presence of aluminum. Sodium aluminosilicate is one of the most commonly used anti-caking agents in refined table salt. Calcium aluminosilicate, potassium aluminum silicate and aluminum silicate are also used.

According to Lynne Farrow the only time a person should consume refined iodized salt is: “1. Only in an emergency room when you need salt and can’t access unprocessed salt. 2. Only if you can’t afford iodine supplementation. Taking iodized salt alone as a source of iodine only benefits communities too poor to get any other kind of iodine. In the U.S., iodizing salt was meant to prevent goiter but nothing else. The minimal iodized salt standard, is in fact, the “Goiter Standard,” but does not reflect the needs of the other organs. The Goiter Standard of iodine provides a disappointingly low bar for the government to set when iodine helps prevent so many other illnesses.” The bottom line is we need to supplement with the seaweed, kelp, known for its high iodine content instead of depending on table salt for iodine. Okinawans are known for eating about five times more seaweed than their fellow countrymen elsewhere in Japan and they have one of the largest populations of centenarians in the world.

Unrefined salt can also come from the ocean or can be mined from underground salt deposits. One of the main benefits of an unrefined salt is it is not just sodium chloride. There are also many trace minerals. If one looks at the National Institute of Health’s website, at the Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) for elements, they will only find 15 RDAs established for minerals. If one does an online search for mineral composition of the human body they will come across a Wikipedia article that lists 22 essential elements for the human body plus 7 additional elements that are possibly needed for the human body.

Mineral researcher and geneticist, Dr. Richard Olree coauthored a book titled Minerals for the Genetic Code: An Exposition & Analysis of The Dr. Olree Standard Genetic Periodic Chart & The Physical, Chemical & Biological Connection. In the book Dr. Olree superimposes the Periodic Chart over the Standard Genetic Chart. What he has found is humans need 49 elements for their genetic code with 10 additional elements possibly being needed for a total of 59 elements. Dr. Olree has stated that if the human body does not have a mineral it needs, it can sometimes substitute another mineral but at an incredible energy loss for the body. An example he uses to demonstrate this is, it’s like living on the east coast of the United States and needing to travel to Atlanta, Georgia, but first having to fly to Anchorage, Alaska to get to Atlanta, Georgia. This is a devastating loss of energy.

What one must realize when searching for a brand of unrefined salt is there are many brands of these salts from around the world and they vary drastically in mineral content, in pH, and in sodium chloride content. Some of these salts have very clever marketing campaigns that fool even the savviest consumers. It is imperative to find a good brand. One will discover when trying to find a brand of unrefined salt there is very little transparency among brands. It is a good idea to call a company and ask for a full copy of their mineral analysis, which typically contains a panel of 70+ minerals. Most companies do not have this information or refuse to provide it. Some companies will only give an abridged version of their salt mineral analysis. Others will offer something they typed up for their website listing minerals but this may not be transposed from an official analysis from a reputable lab. The consumer does not know. The analysis should also have a date (a date is very important who wants a 20-year old lab test?).

Acid Alkaline Balance

The pH scale ranges from 0-14, with 7 being neutral. Acids have a pH lower than 7 and alkalis have a pH greater than 7. The  pH of seawater is about 8.1. The pH of human blood ranges from 7.35-7.45. We need to strive to keep our body alkaline. Dr. Maynard Murray (1910-1983) did extensive testing with sea animals and could not find heart disease or cancer. He attributed this to the alkalinity of the seawater and the minerals the seawater provided. Dr. Murray noticed the elements in seawater are essentially the same as in human blood, and very close to the same quantities. These findings were not new. The link between blood and seawater was first hinted at by Claude Bernard (1813-1878), the French physiologist who formulated the concepts of “internal terrain” and homeostasis. French physiologist Rene Quinton (1866-1925) expanded these theories, performing numerous experiments that proved blood contains the same minerals as ocean water, and in similar proportion.

Rene Quinton operated on the principle that the internal environment of the body determines its overall health status. He believed that if your cells had the right balance of sufficient nutrients then the immune system would be strong enough to resist illness and fight infection. We need to be mindful of our food and beverage choices as it pertains to pH and mineral content. One cola was found to have a pH of 2.387. Items like this should be used sparingly, if ever. The pH of unrefined salt varies. One Hawaiian sea salt was analyzed at a pH of 6.25. One famous unrefined mined salt was analyzed at a pH of 6.01. The pH of  Baja Gold sea salt was analyzed at an alkaline pH of 8.04. The pH of Healthy Salt ™ is 10.72! A pH this high is extremely therapeutic in equalizing the body’s pH after an acidic meal or acidic beverage. It takes 20 parts of ALKALINITY to neutralize 1 part of ACIDITY in the body.

The sodium chloride (NaCl) content of unrefined salts varies greatly. Some unrefined salts are not much different than refined white table salt (97-99% NaCl). One Hawaiian sea salt was analyzed at 94.91% NaCl. Two famous unrefined mined salts were analyzed at 97.35% and 97.97% NaCl (very salty!). The NaCl content of Baja Gold sea salt is a very low 79.12%. This makes it better on food because it is not too salty. Also, you can put more on your food because it is less salty (and thus benefit by getting more of the many trace minerals it contains). The NaCl content of Healthy Salt ™ is the lowest I have ever seen at 76.27%.

The mineral content of unrefined salts varies greatly. One Hawaiian salt was found to only have 20 minerals. One famous unrefined mined salt was found to only have 27 minerals. Baja Gold Sea Salt has 53 minerals! Healthy Salt ™ has a whopping dose of 56 minerals! Thousands of dollars in laboratory testing has been performed on Healthy Salt ™. I believe Healthy Salt ™ contains closer to 70 minerals. Future testing should soon confirm this. Recently Healthy Salt ™ was put through a USP (United States Pharmacopeia) panel of pesticide/herbicide tests. Healthy Salt ™ tested negative (none detected) for 70 different pesticide/herbicide contaminants! Healthy Salt ™ also has an extremely fine particle size. This I believe makes the minerals more bioavailable.

Nutritional Balancing and Hair Analysis

I began a nutritional balancing program 4 years ago. In the first few months I noticed numerous health improvements. After several years, however, I hit a plateau. I was trying my best. I was eating almost exclusively certified organic food. I was drinking plenty of spring water. I was doing sauna sessions. I was getting good sleep. I was rarely eating out or rarely drinking alcohol. Every 3 months I sent a hair sample to a lab for hair analysis. My supplement program was customized to this analysis. In December 2016, even with all my efforts, depression sank in. It was Christmas and my oldest daughter came to visit me from New York, yet I could not feel happiness.

There was a stack of unopened Christmas cards on the kitchen table that my daughter started opening. My wife was out of town on a work assignment. When my wife came home I told her I was “not right” mentally. Several months went by and I was feeling a little better, but eventually felt worse again. Late summer, Eileen Durfee, owner of Go Healthy Next, informed me of the incredible results she was having with Healthy Salt ™. I had nothing to lose so I gave it a try. It was so electrical - almost immediately I started having so much energy. I noticed that taking it too close to bedtime was not a good thing because of the energy it imparted. The big thing though was the way it made me feel mentally. I felt like I was “back”. I told Eileen that it should be called “Happy Salt” instead of Healthy Salt ™. I feel the salt label is misleading though. It is an over simplification. Healthy Salt™ to me is a healing mineral matrix with incredible energizing/alkalizing abilities. It is much more than just “salt”.

Both Baja Gold Sea Salt and Healthy Salt ™ were superior to other brands in mineral content and alkaline pH, and contained less NaCl compared to other brands. Baja Gold Sea Salt works well as a gourmet table salt producing a flavorful, not too salty taste on food, with a crunchy coarse texture that is excellent on meats as well as vegetables. Healthy Salt ™ is a profound mineral supplement, energizer and alkalizer, truly a game changer for obtaining nutrition and enhancing health. It is the most important supplement I have ever taken.
