Hillary’s Proxy Blames Russia For
Nonexistent US Election Hacking

By Stephen Lendman

Robby Mook managed her failed campaign. Militantly anti-Russia/anti-Trump NYT editors featured his deplorable op-ed - irresponsibly blaming Russia for nonexistent US election hacking.

Was he expressing his own views or serving as Hillary’s proxy? Did she use him to do her dirty work? Are they part of a neocon scheme to undermine Trump? Are they involved in a coup plot to oust him once in office?

Mook: “(I)t was worse than Watergate. This wasn’t just one party spying on the other; these were hackers under orders from President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia who were trying to “undermine public faith in the US democratic process.”

Fact: Accusations without evidence are fake. Nothing remotely suggests Russia hacked America’s election or interfered in its political process in any way. Claiming Putin ordered it is absurd and demeaning.

On Monday, his spokesman Dmitry Peskov called Friday’s CIA/FBI/NSA report “absolutely unfounded…amateurish…We still don’t know…what data those who make such unfounded accusations have.”

The scheme is “reminiscent of a witch-hunt…(T)here was nothing in this report that deserved to be read in detail.” So far, Trump hasn’t given a clear, unambiguous response. Instead, last Friday, he issued a carefully worded, likely legally vetted statement, saying:

“I had a constructive meeting and conversation with the leaders of the Intelligence Community this afternoon.”

“I have tremendous respect for the work and service done by the men and women of this community to our great nation.”

“While Russia, China, other countries, outside groups and people are consistently trying to break through the cyber infrastructure of our governmental institutions, businesses and organizations including the Democrat National Committee, there was absolutely no effect on the outcome of the election including the fact that there was no tampering whatsoever with voting machines.”

“There were attempts to hack the Republican National Committee, but the RNC had strong hacking defenses and the hackers were unsuccessful.”

“Whether it is our government, organizations, associations or businesses, we need to aggressively combat and stop cyberattacks.”

“I will appoint a team to give me a plan within 90 days of taking office. The methods, tools and tactics we use to keep America safe should not be a public discussion that will benefit those who seek to do us harm.”

“Two weeks from today, I will take the oath of office and America’s safety and security will be my number one priority.”

All or most countries spy on others, none more aggressively than America and Israel, targeting allies and adversaries alike. Trump’s statement said nothing about alleged Russian US election hacking.

Earlier he called the charge “ridiculous.” Hopefully he still believes it. Whether the campaign to delegitimize his election, based on phony Russia hacking accusations, deters him from improving bilateral ties and cooperating with Putin in combating terrorism remains to be seen.

He has a chance for a historic achievement, saving humanity from the scourge of possible nuclear war. Will he go for it heroically or back off cowardly, continuing dirty business as usual like the Clintons, Bush/Cheney and Obama? It’s his call.
