US Ground Invasion of North Korea Considered? |

| Sound deranged? If US officials devoted the same time, effort and resources
for world peace, equity and justice, all Americans could benefit in ways
unimaginable now. So could countless millions abroad, freed from the scourge of US belligerence. No war on terror would exist. No imperial agenda. No ISIS, al-Qaeda or other high-profile terrorist groups, created and supported by Washington. No support for Israel, Saudi Arabia and other rogue states. What could be is off-the-table because of America’s permanent war agenda, wanting planet earth colonized and controlled, its resources looted, its people exploited. US aggression in multiple theaters isn’t enough for neocons infesting Washington and hawkish Pentagon commanders - new countries on their target list, notably Iran and North Korea. Out-of-control US policymaking risks catastrophic wars on both countries, maybe Russia and China to follow, humanity’s survival up for grabs because of lunatics in charge of the Washington asylum. We’re all doomed if this madness isn’t stopped. Every country America preemptively attacked post-WW II threatened no one. Its permanent war agenda risks armageddon. Consideration of a ground invasion of North Korea is madness, any attack on the country an agenda only lunatics would support. An aerial and/or land attack would be catastrophic, nuclear war likely erupting, millions of lives lost on the Korean peninsula and elsewhere - Seoul, Tokyo and US regional forces prime targets. According to a letter from Joint Chiefs of Staff vice director Admiral Michael Dumont to congressional members, US capabilities to “counter North Korea’s ability to respond with a nuclear weapon and to eliminate North Korea’s nuclear weapons located in deeply buried, underground facilities” should only be discussed in a classified briefing. Pentagon commanders believe Pyongyang “may consider the use of biological weapons.” It has “a long-standing chemical weapons program with the capability to produce nerve, blister, blood and choking agents,” they said, adding: “The only way to ‘locate and destroy - with complete certainty -all components of North Korea’s nuclear weapons program’ is through a ground invasion.” Calculating the “best or worse-case casualty scenarios” of likely civilian casualties is challenging. It depends on the “nature, intensity and duration” of war. An attempt to prevent DPRK use of nuclear weapons would be lead by US Special Operations (SOCOM) troops. They’re trained in how to respond to “loose nukes” in the hands of enemies. Dumont said Pentagon commanders favor current US strategy, focused on economic and diplomatic pressure as primary tools. Trump threatened fire, fury and total destruction of North North, saying “only one thing will work,” his remarks making him sound deranged, mindless of the catastrophic consequences of war on the peninsula. The DPRK threatens no one. It wants peace and normalized relations with all nations. It wants a long-denied peace treaty, formally ending the 1950s war. It wants hostile sanctions removed. Its nuclear and ballistic missile programs are solely for defense, genuinely fearing US aggression, these weapons its most effective deterrents. If no threat existed and Washington respected North Korean sovereign independence, no longer would there be an issue of possible catastrophic war on the peninsula. That scenario would mean US policymakers turned a new leaf, about as unlikely as America renouncing wars altogether. Never before, pure fantasy to think possible ahead.
