Assad Discusses War On Syria

Interviewed by Russia’s Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper, Assad’s comments were refreshingly candid and straightforward - polar opposite Obama’s serial lying, Hillary Clinton doing it pathologically. Below is a snapshot of his views.

“(T)he crux of the problem (in Syria is) terrorism.” Most important is who supports it. Without foreign help it can’t exist.

US Cold War never ceased “after the collapse of the Soviet Union.”

Syria was targeted for allying closely with Iran and Russia. “(W)hatever happens in Syria will influence the region, negatively and positively, so controlling (the country) is very important.”

It’s “independent, and the West doesn’t tolerate counties” they don’t control. Waging war on Syria targets Russian regional influence.

Turkey supports ISIS and al-Nusra. Invading and occupying northern Syrian territory flagrantly violated international law.

“Russia bases its policy on the international law, respecting the sovereignty of other states, and understanding the repercussions of the terrorism prevailing anywhere in the world…”

All armed groups waging war on Syria are foreign-backed terrorists. Israel is Syria’s enemy, illegally occupying its land for over 40 years.

War is more than military confrontation. Illegal sanctions imposed on Syria reflect economic and financial war, harming businesses and ordinary people enormously.

Russia intervened at Assad’s request to help turn the tide of battle at a time terrorists had the upper hand. It was “invited…because we trust them.”

“We trust their politics…based on morals before interests…because we know that they wanted to support us, because they wanted to get rid of the terrorists, not because they want…anything in return.”

“Till this moment, (Putin) never asked for anything in return…(T)he West” wants puppet governance in Syria, its sovereignty destroyed.

US-led Western and regional-supported terrorists don’t want dialogue. The only viable option is combating them. Nothing else can work.

“Russia changed the balance on the ground not in favor of the terrorists.”

“(Y)ou have to define the word ‘opposition…(M)ost of the world use(s) the (term to mean) people who carry guns and kill people. You don’t call them ‘opposition.” It’s “a political term. It cannot be a military term.”

The pro-Western Syrian Observatory of Human Rights is run by one man based in London, publishing anti-Syrian propaganda unrelated to facts on the ground.

So-called White Helmets work with and support al-Nusra terrorists. Videos and photos show them “celebrating the death of Syrian army soldiers.”

It amounts to packaging al-Nusra terrorists “under the title of White Hekmets.” They support mass slaughter and destruction, not rescuing people from rubble. That’s all for show, for Western media propaganda.

Winning the battle for Aleppo will be a “springboard…to liberate other areas from the terrorists.” So-called Syrian Free Army fighters are the same as ISIS and al-Nusra. All armed anti-government forces are terrorists.
