UK PM May Blasts Non-Existent Iranian 'Aggression'

May matches Margaret Thatcher’s extremism with a rage for naked aggression - complicit with Washington, NATO, Israel and other regional rogue states.

According to Fars News, Iran is furious over her saying “we must…work together to push back against Iran’s aggressive regional actions” - during a meeting of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC).

Their members include Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, monarchal dictatorships with plenty of oil money for weapons May wants Britain to sell them.

According to Tehran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi, “(t)he foreign ministry's deputy director general for Western Europe summoned (UK envoy) Hopton on Saturday to convey the strong protest of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the…statements made by that country's prime minister.”

He called them “irresponsible, provocative and divisive…(I) is strongly expected that such unacceptable statements are not made in the future.”

“(S)uch moves run counter to the stated expansion of ties and will further damage the two countries' relations.”

“The regional policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is based on establishing peace, stability and security on the basis of campaign against terrorism, while some regional countries are clearly pursuing the policy of supporting terrorism and this reality has been ignored by the British officials and you premier, which is a source of regret and surprise.”

Britain led by David Cameron reopened its Tehran embassy in August 2015. Was it a sign of improved relations or deception concealing continued hostility?

Both countries restored relations at the ambassadorial level. On Saturday, Iranian First Vice-President Edhaq Jahangiri accused May of accepting an invitation to speak against Iran during the PGCC meeting.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is a great country in the region and no one can confront it with such remarks,” he stressed.

A same day article discussed US neocon United Against Nuclear (UANI) Iran and Foreign Policy Institute (FPI) speakers at a Future of Iran Policy event urge escalated sanctions, rescinding the nuclear deal and provoking confrontation - wanting pro-Western puppet governance replacing Tehran’s sovereign independence.

Decades of US hostility toward Iran may continue when Trump takes office. Responsibly ending it on his watch is unlikely.
