The NYT - An Imperial Tool |
By
Stephen Lendman |
The Times is a national disgrace, sanitizing news and information for
the corporate and imperial state - suppressing what’s most important to
report, substituting rubbish. Following Muller witch-hunt investigation indictments of 13 Russians and entities, showing no improper or illegal Trump team/Russia connections, no Russian meddling in America’s electoral process, the president tweeted his “campaign did nothing wrong - no collusion.” He’s right, justifiably tweeting it. The Times jumped on him irresponsibly, falsely claiming “a foreign power had been trying for nearly four years to upend American democracy” - a bald-faced lie. No evidence proves Russian interference in America’s electoral process. The nation has no democracy to “upend” - an imperial state waging war on humanity at home and abroad, a plutocracy serving its privileged class exclusively, exploiting most others. The Times: The Mueller investigation indictments “underscored the broader conclusion by the American government that Russia is engaged in a virtual war against the United States through 21st-century tools of disinformation and propaganda, a conclusion shared by the president’s own senior advisers and intelligence chiefs.” Fact: No Russian “disinformation and propaganda…war” is being waged against America or any other countries. Claiming otherwise turned truth on its head, the Times and other media scoundrels complicit with the US intelligence community for proliferating the Big Lie. The Times: “…Trump has made little if any public effort to rally the nation to confront Moscow for its intrusion or to defend democratic institutions against continued disruption.” Fact: There’s nothing to “rally the nation” about against Russia, a nation to cooperate with, not vilify. Fact: Claimed “incontrovertible” evidence of Russian US election meddling is a disgraceful perversion of truth. The Times quoted hardline Atlantic Council member/Russophobic neocon Daniel Fried, shamefully accuse Trump of “domestic partisanship” for failing to address a Russian threat - fabricated, not real. Former right-wing US ambassador to Moscow Michael McFaul was quoted, calling Trump’s reaction to Friday’s indictments “shockingly weak” - a disgraceful comment. The Times notoriously reinvents history to serve its imperial agenda, saying: “After Russia ordered the American Embassy in Moscow to shed most of its staff, the administration responded by ordering Russia to close its consulate in San Francisco and diplomatic annexes in New York and Washington.” Fact: Russia responds to hostile US actions tit-for-tat, its justifiable right. It never initiated them against Washington. The Times disgracefully claimed otherwise - a Big Lie. The Times questioned why Trump is “go(ing) easy on Moscow.” Tough illegal sanctions were imposed, Trump forced to go along because overwhelmingly bipartisan-supported congressional legislation called for them. Days earlier, Treasury Secretary Mnuchin said more are coming, hardly “go(ing) easy on Moscow,” a policy responsible journalists denounce - illegal, aggressive, and reprehensible. The Times criticized Trump for speaking “about Mr. Putin in generally flattering or friendly terms and avoid(ing) direct criticism even during moments of enormous stress in the relationship between the two countries” - one of the few positive things he’s done, warranting praise, not disapproval. The Times, CIA-connected Washington Post and CNN are the leading US media operations, trying to undermine Trump, wanting him removed from office for the wrong reasons. They feature all propaganda all the time on major issues, responsible journalism abandoned, along with coup d’etat advocacy against an elected US president - operating as house organs for the imperial state.
