NYT Disinformation on Syria

By Stephen Lendman
11-25-16

Scoundrel media misreporting on Obama’s war has been some of the most scandalous in memory, turning truth on its head, a shameless perversion of what’s going on - truth-telling entirely absent, disinformation and Big Lies featured.

Few, if any, Western reporters are in Syrian combat theaters. On November 24, The New York Times reported from Beirut, Lebanon, mindless of reality on the ground, publishing Pentagon press release handouts, journalism the way it’s supposed to be entirely absent - like all its reporting on major domestic and geopolitical issues.

The Times: “The United States military suffered its first combat death in Syria on Thursday (in) an area where the Americans are helping to organize an offensive against the Islamic State (ISIS).”

Fact: Unknown numbers of US special forces, combat troops and CIA elements operate in Syria illegally. Perhaps many died over the course of Obama’s aggression. Pentagon reports willfully deceive.

Fact: Washington supports ISIS and all other terrorist groups in Syria. No moderates exist.

The Times: “American warplanes have been bombing targets inside Syria to help tens of thousands of militia fighters try to oust the Islamic State from Raqqa, the group’s stronghold in the country.”

Fact: The battle for Raqqa is another US hoax. Syrian infrastructure, government sites and civilian areas are being attacked, not terrorists Washington supports.

Fact: Washington’s so-called Raqqa offensive has nothing to do with liberating the city from ISIS control. It likely aims to divide Syria, transferring sovereignty from Damascus to northern territory controlled by a US-installed puppet regime, maybe a Kurdish/Arab coalition if things go the way Washington plans.

The Times: “American forces…are in Syria to help recruit, train and advise the Kurdish and Arab fighters…retake” Raqqa from ISIS.

Fact: US forces are actively engaged in combat, aiding  Washington’s aim to replace Assad with illegitimate pro-Western governance.

The Times: “(T)he United States acknowledged killing 119 civilians in Iraq and Syria since it began military operations against the Islamic State in 2014.”

Fact: US terror-bombing killed thousands of Syrian and Iraqi civilian men, women and children since 2014 alone - millions killed in all US war theaters since Bill and Hillary Clinton’s rape of Yugoslavia - by war, conflict related violence, preventable diseases, starvation and overall deprivation.

The Times: “Three Turkish soldiers were killed Thursday by Syrian planes, the Turkish military announced.”

Fact: As of November 25, seven Turkish soldiers were killed in northern Syria, two dozen or more wounded, from illegal ground operations, not airstrikes. Syria strongly denied responsibility.

The Times and other media scoundrels falsely call conflict in Syria “civil” - knowing it’s Obama’s war, naked aggression launched in March 2011, Russian good faith conflict resolution efforts consistently undermined.

The Times misreports on conflict in terrorist-held eastern Aleppo, ignoring atrocities committed against civilians in government controlled parts of the city, including use of chemical weapons.

“There are about 250,000 people in the city’s east, and most have been unable to leave because the roads are held by government forces,” The Times misreported.

At most, around 30-40,000 remain - held as human shields. Most others left long ago. With few exceptions (the lucky ones), trapped residents can’t leave because US-supported terrorists lethally shoot anyone trying.
