NYT Portrays Aleppo's Liberation As Bad

Stephen Lendman
12-13-16

The Times makes painful reading, even for a scoundrel media critic like myself, the broadsheet my main target because of its global reach and influence.

It publishes all fake news all the time on issues mattering most, legitimate journalism entirely discarded, vital hard truths suppressed.

Instead of welcoming Syria’s glorious triumph over US-supported terrorists infesting Aleppo, its residents celebrating their liberation, expressing heartfelt thanks to government and allied forces, The Times headlined “Aleppo Close to Falling Under Complete Control of Syrian Government,” saying:

“The last civilians caught in the shrinking antigovernment enclave issued panicked calls for help” - a despicable lie.

“The last civilians” are held captives as human shields, viciously brutalized, yearning for government forces to free them at last from their long ordeal.

The Times: They’re “afraid they would be killed or arrested if pro-government forces reached them, as antigovernment activists (sic) circulated reports of scores of summary killings in retaken areas.”

Fact: What despicable rubbish, the stuff Joseph Goebbels would have been proud to affix his name to. Even The Times admitted “(v)ideos from government-held districts show(ing) people celebrating in the streets…”

They’re joyous about freedom from captivity, not fearful of arrest or summary execution. The Times continues reporting the myth of “civil war,” an “armed rebellion.”

Truth is polar opposite its accounts. Syria is Obama’s war, naked aggression against a sovereign independent country threatening no one - using terrorist death squads imported from scores of countries, responsible for mass slaughter and destruction.

The strategic battle for Aleppo is won. On Monday, South Front said “government forces made significant advances inside the city and pushed the al-Nusra-led ‘opposition’ to accept the withdrawal agreement.”

“Militants will be allowed to move from the eastern Aleppo pocket to the ‘Anadan plains. Right now some militant units are still remaining in the city. But they are not able to resist the army.”

“The Syrian Defense Ministry will announce officially the liberation of Aleppo as soon as the rest of militants leaves the area under the agreement or by force.”

AMN News said “jihadist rebels…accepted terms of surrender in east Aleppo…This agreement was put in place after the jihadist rebels retreated from the strategic Sheikh Sa'eed District, which was considered one of the last strongholds for Jaysh Al-Fateh and their allies.”

Fighting should end, for now at least, once the last neighborhood is cleared of its US-supported terrorist infestation.
