|Several years ago Stuart Pape of the National Yogurt Assn petitioned the FDA to
allow aspartame in dairy products without labeling. This is, of
course, illegal. Aspartame requires a PKU warning. A FOIA
request to find out what FDA did was never answered. Now comes
this petition on labeling by the dairy industry. While the public
asks for more labeling the petition is for less. |
It's the FDA who is confused. Their picture shows the label will go from "Reduced Calorie Chocolate Milk" to "Chocolate Milk". A consumer should not have to search for fine print. A PKU warning on aspartame needs to be front and center. Less labeling is simply improper labeling. When Michael Taylor , a Monsanto attorney, now at the FDA again, wrote the De Minimis Clause to the Delaney Amendment, his intent was to minimize regulation. The outrage by the public is because the public does not want poison added under any circumstances. Aspartame is a literal chemical poison and Splenda is chlorinated sugar, if you like bleach.
Delaney Clause said "the Secretary of the Food and Drug
Administration shall not approve for use in food any chemical additive
found to induce cancer in man, or, after tests, found to induce cancer
in animals."In 1988 the US Environmental Protection Agency eased
restrictions on several pesticides which posed a "De Minimis " risk to
humans. This change was challenged by the Natural Resources
Defense Council, and overturned in 1992 by the 9th Circuit Court of
Appeals. Dr. Woodrow Monte, author of "While Science Sleeps" wrote:
"There is something very wrong going on, something that is killing good people and causing untold suffering to families and communities around the world. Never have such a high percentage of us been afflicted with so many tragic wasting diseases. In the past 30 years a group of diseases including multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, breast cancer, lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, melanoma and a once rare birth defect, autism have reached epidemic proportion in the United States and many other countries of the world. These changes have come on slowly enough where we seem to be accepting this as the way life works. You must believe me that the changes that we have seen over the last generation are unprecedented in the history of medical science. These are the worst of times--- and the truth is they are the result of a tragic decision made at the point of a gun by the Food and Drug Administration of the United States in 1981. The origin of the onset of this plague coincides perfectly with their approval of Aspartame, an artificial sweetener that contains methanol that converts into deadly formaldehyde within the brain and sinew of all who consume it."
The 9/99 Parent's Magazine asked "WHAT'S WRONG WITH OUR CHILDREN?" It said:
"Four mothers lingered after the PTA meeting at a private school in New York City,
whispering about their third grade children, each of whom had been diagnosed with
a different psychological problem. The first had attention-deficit hyperactivity
disorder (ADHD) and had also been prescribed Prozac for his mood swings. The
second was seeing a therapist for depression after his parents were divorced. The
third was being assessed for a conduct disorder, due to his continued rowdiness
in class. The fourth was taking St. John's Wort, an alternative herbal remedy for
dysthymia, a milder form of depression, under a doctor's supervision. One mom
commented that out of 40 students in the grade, she could count three or four more
who had been similarly diagnosed. "that makes nearly twenty percent of our class,"
she said stunned. "We're good parents," the first mother lamented. "Why aren't our
Parents Magazine continues: "Even before the tragic school shootings in Jonesboro and Littleton, parents were waking up to the reality that something is desperately wrong. their children - and their children's classmates - are being diagnosed with mental health problems at an alarming rate. The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) estimates that there are 12 million children under 18 with mental disorders. At least 3 to 5 percent of American school age children suffer from ADHD, for example, and 5 percent show signs of depression. by the end of high school, one in four teems will have seriously considered suicide."
Who does dairy products with aspartame or Splenda target? The children! The FDA made a deal with G. D. Searle never to allow the public to see the birth defect studies. Just exactly who is confused? With full knowledge that aspartame causes neural tube defects, cleft pallet, etc. FDA bargained away the lives of babies and children! It certainly explains the autism epidemic as Dr. Woodrow Monte discusses in "While Science Sleeps", www.whilesciencesleeps.com
Renowned neuroscientist Dr. John Olney wrote a 49 page paper to the FDA Board of Inquiry on what aspartame would do to the brains of our children and declared "birth defects are a given" You will find this as well as the revoked petition for approval on www.mpwhi.com scroll down to banners. It's not the public who are confused, its the FDA who is intentionally confusing the whole population. They have forgotten they could not approve it as safe. It took the political chicanery of Don Rumsfeld to put it on the market. The public doesn't want aspartame in dairy products - period. Nor do they want sucralose/Splenda which has been shown to be carcinogenic by Dr. Morando Soffritti of the Ramazzini Institute.
The Report for Schools http://www.mpwhi.com/report_
Medical texts like "Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic" by H. J. Roberts,M.D. and "Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills" by neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock, M.D. expose the dangers.
The FDA has had a Citizens Petition for Ban since 2002 which is supposed to be answered in 180 days. They have had a request for an Imminent health hazard since 2007 which is supposed to be answered in ten days. Their letters state they have more important things to do. More important than stopping a global plague?!!
In 1986 the Community Nutrition Institute filed a petition to ban aspartame because so many are going blind and having seizures. Today they have increased to the extent that Pauline Harding, M.D. (Chicago Aspartame Detox Center) said, "Aspartame is the second most common cause of blindness in the United States. Children should not be encouraged to use it." The free methyl alcohol converts to formaldehyde and formic acid in the retina of the eye and destroys the optic nerve.
Dr. Ralph Walton who has done a study on aspartame said: "Any modification of current labeling regulations which enables the dairy industry to sweeten its products with aspartame without informing the public would be seriously misguided. There are now hundreds of independently funded, peer reviewed studies demonstrating a wide variety of serious health issues with aspartame. Virtually the only studies demonstrating the safety of this artificial sweetener are directly or indirectly funded by the industry. Allowing this toxic agent to be added to products consumed largely by children, without public awareness, would be a serious, and outrageous, violation of the FDA's mission."
Dr. Ralph Walton is doing a study on aspartame having to do with those who used aspartame during pregnancy. You simply have to fill out the form on www.mpwhi.com and send it to me for forwarding.
To date there are 114,000 complaints, not 30,000. There are a lot of people who don't even know what is going on. Even the jam companies have petitioned to allow aspartame in jam unlabeled. Good-bye jam!
Who is protecting the consumer public? When Monsanto products harm the public they ask for protection. Instead they pass a bill protecting Monsanto. This is outrageous.
FDA, no lessening of labeling. Remove the poisons. FDA has allowed aspartame on the market for three decades when study after study shows it causes cancer and violates the Delaney Amendment. In 2005 Dr. Morando Soffritti released the first cancer study. Russell Blaylock, M.D. said ban it from schools!!
Neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock M.D. commented: "The new study released in the European Journal of oncology by Morando Soffritti and co-workers should terrify mothers and all those consuming aspartame sweetened products. This was a carefully done study which clearly demonstrated a statistically significant increase in several types of lymphomas and leukemias in rats. Both of these malignancies have increased significantly in this country since the widespread use of aspartame.
"This study confirmed the previous study by Dr. Trocho and co-workers, which also found the formaldehyde breakdown product of aspartame to be damaging to cellular DNA and that this damage was accumulative. The type of damage was a duplicate of that associated with cancers. Along with this most recent study, this means that drinking a single diet cola sweetened with aspartame every day could increase one's risk of developing a lymphoma or leukemia.
"They also found an increased incidence of malignant brain tumors, even though it was not statistically significant. This does not mean there is no association to brain tumors, since only the animals exposed to aspartame developed the tumors. With children and pregnant women drinking the largest amount of diet colas, this puts their children at the greatest risk of developing one of these horrible diseases. Their study found that even low doses of aspartame could cause these malignancies; yet, the higher the dose, the more cancers that were seen.
"Since aspartame can increase obesity and may even cause the metabolic syndrome that affects 48 million Americans, there is no reason to ever consume this product. At the least it should be immediately banned from all schools."
Dr. Blaylock wrote the Miami Herald to counteract propaganda by the Calorie Control Council, an aspartame front group: "It is known that the amount of toxic phenylalanine reaching the baby is twice as high as that in the mother's blood because the placenta concentrates the toxin. In addition, numerous metabolic breakdown products of aspartame are known to damage the developing infant's brain, including methanol, formaldehyde, formic acid, diketopiperizine and phenylacetate.
"Aspartame has been shown by several studies to damage DNA, which can lead to cancer and degenerative brain disorders later in life. The risk of increased brain tumors in such a child would be enormous. Similar mechanisms of damage would be expected in these with liver disease. Studies on aspartame safety have shown that the product increases tumors throughout numerous organs, especially the brain. It was shown that brain tumor incidence increased over 47 times in animals exposed to aspartame.
"With the public concern over childhood obesity and diabetes few are being told of the overwhelming evidence that early exposure to excitotoxins as found in aspartame consistently produce gross obesity and insulin resistant diabetes, just as we are seeing in our youth. The promoters of aspartame use have been lying from the beginning and continue to use their money and political clout to cover up the real and present dangers of this toxic product."
