The Smirky Smile Of Troy Davis
Just Wait Till You See This!

By Mary Maxwell
9-19-11

Cut to the chase. On the night on which Troy Davis is said to have killed a man named Mark MacPhail, a lady named Dorothy was standing 'across the street' on the deck of a hotel. She was therefore able to give eyewitness testimony, right?

Nothing impeded her view, in the sense of there being no trucks or trees in the way. She could "see clearly."

Ah, well, it was at night. Maybe she had been into the recipe, too. Maybe her eyesight is not 20/20. Still, though, a 'witness across the street' would have quite an effect on a jury.

If I were one of the jurors I'd have probably considered her statement to be the clincher.

So that was 1989 (when the murder was committed), and the trial took place in 1991. Troy Davis was found guilty and sentenced to death. Only later, years later, did the story start to unravel, bigtime, when nearly all of the nine witnesses said they were coerced. Some have given vivid descriptions of that coercion that I will not go into here. The Supreme Court, no less, got to hear about all that and didn't raise an eyebrow. So let's move to 'physical facts,' shall we?

A picture is worth ten thousand words, or maybe a million words. A cinematographer from the donkeysaddle project (a humble name but a huge program she even went to Sudan to make a documentary) comes along and asks Troy's sister to help 're-enact' the event in the parking lot on that fateful night. (This is all on Youtube; that's where I got it.)

Happily for us, the cameraman and Martina chose a bright day instead of a dark night. Martina stood in the section of the parking lot in which the man got shot. The cameraman played the role of Dorothy and stood at the appropriate spot on the deck of the hotel. And here you have it. All you'll ever need to know about the OUTRAGEOUS matter of the conviction of this prisoner.

The top photo shows "little" Martina, but at least you can see her; she's wearing a yellow half-coat and dark jeans. The word on the picture is "Camera on medium zoom." But the real Dorothy, of course, did not have a zoom thingie. She was bare-eyed. The middle photo turns down the zoom, and now you can't even tell if Martina is male or female, although you can make out that there is someone standing there.

And now for donkeysaddle's pièce de resistance: the bottom photo. Can you see Martina?

Liar! No one can see who it is. It may be Martina. It may be a plastic bag blowing in the wind. I bet you cannot see anything there at all.

So, as to whether the person's identity that night were Troy Davis, or Sylvester Coles, or Zsa Zsa Gabor, you would be in the dark. Oh, speaking of dark, recall that the event was après minuit.  I imagine Burger King did provide sufficient lighting for customers to find their cars, but not exactly floodlighting. Anyway floodlights would only be as good as the sunlight here. And that AIN'T GOOD ENOUGH. No sir. No siree Bob, Sir. No way in hell. Dorothy lied.

Actually, Dorothy has already admitted lying. And admits that she was in trouble for a shop-lifting charge at the time, and thus had to do what cops 'advised.' And by the way, a member of the jury has come out and said that if she had known Dorothy 'had issues' like that she wouldn't have swallowed the bait. See? This case can't stand up to a gentle breeze never mind a strong wind.

But I haven't finished. Gotta find out who the police turned to for the composition of the 'witness' statements. They really are gems. Dorothy was told to say that the killer had a smirky smile. So long as there was never a donkeysaddle type person interfering with the narrative, that could actually fly. Why? Because it's so human. If I want to make you despise someone I might very well tell you that, after he does an evil deed, he smirks!

I have been amassing such statements from cases that are later revealed to be fake. This smirky smile thing is fabulous because it shows how gullible we are. We didn't stop to say: Hey Wait a sec, the prosecution just said that the motive for the murder was that Troy shot the security guard (Mac Phail) because he, Troy, sensed trouble over his (allegedly) having hit a homeless bloke.

How does that square with smirking? Don't we normally smirk when we have accomplished something we are proud of? Along the lines of "Har, they said I couldn't pull it off but I did! smirk, smirk." And how the Crikey does the smirky smile jibe with the story that Troy was in the act of running away as he shot MacPhail? Please do a quick scan of your whole life: have you ever run away and smirked at the same time?

Shame, shame, shame on the 'justice system' for coming up with these 'compositions.'

I want to know exactly who wrote this one. It's a felony, you know: obstruction of justice. We're talkin' jail time. But the person who is really at fault, in my opinion, is me. And, sorry, thee. We have got to be a bit smarter. Contact me and I'll show you my collection.

Anyway, I fear they really are planning to execute Troy. They did it to Tookie Williams, acting as there was some sort of force pushing them to do it. Just look at these photos again. There Troy stands, in the bottom shot do you see that, O Chief Justice of the United States?

Do you see that, O Prosecutor-on-Leave Robert Keller of the Pardon Board? Got 20/20 vision? See that smirky smile? Got night vision? Got a zoom lens built into your visual cortex? What can you be thinking of, killing innocent Troy Davis? Pull yourself together, man, this is America!

If you don't want to contact her about the collection, just go to the library and take out a book called American Assassins, sort of a, you know, psychological analysis of people who shoot at presidents. I promise you it is laugh-out-loud funny. Although the families of the 'assassins' probably don't find it so
