- In what can be seen as heroic or at least common sense
by the Obama administration last week, immigration officers caught the
Chuy Restaurant owners in a double sting operation. At their 14 outlets
in Arizona and California, officers caught 42 illegal aliens working full
time.
-
- While officers set in motion deportation proceedings,
Immigration, Customs and Enforcement officials arrested the owners Mark
Evenson and his son Christopher Evenson on severe charges of hiring and
harboring illegal aliens. If convicted both men face 80 years in jail.
-
- ICE officers changed their tactics for the first time
in many years. Instead of rounding up the illegal aliens while the employers
enjoyed complete freedom, the Obama administration decided to lock up the
employers.
-
- Obama's enforcement policies reflect a growing pressure
from out of work American citizens now numbers 15 million, while 8 to 10
million illegal aliens enjoy full time employment.
-
- Few employers understand or care about the fact that
American taxpayers foot the subsidy bill for over $346 billion annually
to illegal aliens and their children as to schools, free lunches, anchor
babies, medical care and incarceration costs. (Source: www.TheSocialContract.com with
Edwin Rubenstein Report)
-
- Long running investigations of those employers have culminated
in indictments, convictions and exponentially increased fines. To hire
one illegal alien requires a great deal of fraud as to forged or stolen
Social Security cards, false ID cards and betrayal of integrity to the
U.S. government. An estimated 8 to 10 million illegal aliens remain fully
employed across the United States in the hotel and restaurant areas as
well as farming, landscape, construction, painting, roofing and retail.
-
- Bear-Stearns showed that America allows the second largest
underground economy to proliferate with illegal aliens walking across U.S.
borders.
-
- Other businesses will be under greater scrutiny as Obama's
enforcement policies become more strident. Such fast food industries like
McDonald's will be facing greater penalties. McDonald's for years has
hired illegal aliens with immunity from prosecution.
-
- New York Times journalist Julia Preston said, "Administration
officials say that their audits and investigations of employers have laid
the groundwork for a system that would dissuade companies from hiring illegal
aliens. Republicans say the administration is failing to remove those
immigrants from the workforce just when Americans are grappling with high
rates of unemployment."
-
- In a similar vein, the Supreme Court last week validated
Arizona's right to mandate E-Verify to make businesses check on legal status
to work within the United States. An estimated 22 states are now encouraged
to pass the exact same legislation to move more illegal aliens out of the
employment fraud now going on in much of America.
-
- If an employer hires illegal aliens, he or she may have
their business licenses voided, thus driving them out of business.
-
- While the Obama administration attempts to make good
on reworking the immigration situation and providing amnesty for an estimated
20 million within the United States, experts agree that it will become
a hot campaign issue in 2012. For over 20 years, it has been passed off
to each successive administration with the only winners: employers of illegal
aliens.
-
- It's about time that law enforcement put the horse before
the cart. It works much better that way. Enforce the laws and the employers
will fall in line. Jail does not make a suitable result to most businessmen.
