Earth Day - Humans Face
Rapid Population Decline

By Frosty Wooldridge

As we approach Earth Day, the most neglected aspect of attempting to maintain a sustainable planet continues to be ignored, avoided, evaded and squashed at all costs. What is it? Answer: human overpopulation.

As we head toward 7.1 billion humans worldwide later in 2011, no world leader addresses the most dangerous issue of the 21st century. However, other top "Galileo's" of the 21st century do address it. One of them is Dr. Jack Alpert.

He said, "Rapid Population Decline (RPD) isn't everything---it is the only thing humanity must focus on because it is the prerequisite of everything else we need to do."

You may watch the following seven minute video to give you an idea why the world's women must choose to have only one child each. We must move toward rapid population decline by choice or Mother Nature will do it for us, rather brutally.

Mother Nature's scoreboard is absolute. There are no points for trying. Or for good intentions! Or sincerity! We either make the cut or we don't. We either live within the planet's carrying capacity or we die. Reducing our personal footprints won't suffice. We must reduce our population rapidly and radically. Everything else is ephemeral.

Stop promoting half-solutions. Stop believing that an equitable distribution of wealth, or people living smaller (green living) or more efficient technology will significantly reduce our total footprint. Stop worrying about the mice in the house when the 500 pound gorilla---overpopulation---is right here in the living room.

Time is running out. We cannot afford to dissipate our energies with a scatter-gun approach. Rather, we must channel our strength and attention to the primary task at hand---RPD.

Since 18 million humans already starve to death annually, can you imagine what that number will become if we add the projected 2 to 3 billion within 40 years? It's time to take reasoned and logical action with birth control and family planning.
