MONTREAL - A waitress is seeking damages from the head of the Hells Angels and one of its members after being injured during biker war violence.

Hélène Brunet: feeling victimized again and again Hélène Brunet says her life was turned upside down last July 6 when two customers in her Montreal North restaurant were victims of an armed attack

On that summer morning, two masked men charged into the restaurant and began firing.

Robert Savard and Normand Descôteaux, two known members of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang, were targetted. Savard was shot several times in the head and died instantly.

Human shield

Descôteaux was also shot, but survived.

The young waitress says Descôteaux grabbed her and used her to shield himself from the bullets. Brunet was hit by four bullets in the arm and in the leg.

She wants compensation from Descôteaux and from the head of the Hells Angels, Maurice "Mom" Boucher.

Feeling shunned

Meanwhile, the woman says she feels neglected by the CSST, Quebec's workers compensation board. She says she is being reimbursed the equivalent of 50% of her tip revenue, while workers usually receive 90% of their salary.

The waitress is also surprised that she does not qualify for a compensation program for victims of criminal acts. She says she was told she does not qualify because her injuries were inflicted at her workplace.
