- CHICAGO -- Attorney Kimball
Anderson stated, "We believe today's ruling by the District Court
ordering the incarceration of Kevin Trudeau for criminal contempt exceeds
the permissible bounds of the district court's authority. Mr. Trudeau has
committed no crime; he has violated no statute; and he has violated no
court order. Mr. Trudeau believes that he was simply exercising his First
Amendment Rights and was permissibly encouraging others to do the same
on his radio show.
- Anderson said, "We encourage the public to read
the emails that various citizens sent to the District Court. The emails
are not threatening or abusive. Instead, they overwhelmingly support the
exercise of Mr. Trudeau's 1st Amendment rights."
- "On behalf of Mr. Trudeau, we are seeking an immediate
hearing before the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals and to stay Mr. Trudeau's
sentence that the District Court ordered to commence tomorrow, at 2:15
pm." Anderson concluded, "We expect that his rights will be vindicated
shortly."
