- As members of Congress prepare to return to Washington
on September 6, I am proud that many concerned Americans have spoken out
against the federal hate crimes bill in town hall meetings. Countless Americans
who have read my e-alerts encouraging hate bill protest, listened to my
24 national radio and TV interviews this month, and watched our latest
video "Town Hall Meeting Outrage Can Kill Hate Bill!" have taken
action. Thousands have printed our flyer "Hate Bill Ends Free Speech
-- Back Down Obama from Signing It" at www.truthtellers.org and distributed
it by the thousands in town hall protests this summer.
-
- Here is how one California activist responded:
-
- Hi Ted,
-
- Thank you so much for the "Blast Hate Bill at Townhall
Meetings" talking points. We had a huge, 1000-person townhall here
in San Diego today with Democrat Congresswoman Susan Davis. Prior to the
meeting, I printed up your talking points and handed them out to "friendlies."
-
- People were chosen at random to question Davis. Most
questioned her about healthcare. By a minor miracle, for which I praise
God, I was chosen--and asked her the first of your bullet-point questions,
"Attorney Gen. Holder testified in the Senate Judiciary Committee
that there is no equal justice under the hate bill. He said the hate bill
will not protect whites, ministers, males, police and soldiers. It will
only protect such minorities as homosexuals, Jews, Muslims, blacks and
Latinos. Why did you vote for a bill that discriminates against most Americans?"
-
- Davis condescendingly said that I must have read the
bill wrongly. I retorted, "No, I didn't, and you voted for an unconstitutional,
unAmerican piece of legislation."
-
- The crowd roared, and many people thanked me afterward
for bringing the topic up. But I thank you for giving me such an easy,
concise question to ask her--and thank God that I was chosen to query her
in front of so many people!
-
- God bless you.
-
-
- There is still time to protest at town hall meetings!
They are still being held this week. Family Research Council lists those
in your area at www.frcaction.org/townhalls.
-
- Here's what you can still do to save freedom:
-
- · Loudly protest the hate bill this fall at town
hall meetings and on the internet and call-in talk shows as well as in
church and civic groups.
-
- · Keep faxing Pres. Obama at 1-202-456-2461: "Mr.
President, we will never forgive or forget if you sign the freedom-stealing,
pedophile-protecting federal hate bill."
-
- · Resume calling members of Congress at 1-877-851-6437,
1-877-SOB-USOB, or 1-202-225-3121. Tell those who voted for the hate bill:
"I am very angry that you voted for the freedom-destroying, pedophile-protecting
hate bill. Please use your influence now to encourage the President to
veto it. Otherwise, we will take revenge at midterms." (Senators and
House members who voted for the hate bill are listed at http://www.truthtellers.org/votesummaries.html.)
-
-
- Many Democrats returning to Congress are bruised and
sobered at the unexpected level of public anger. This anger more than ever
provides a tremendous wave we can ride, adding the hate bill to the list
of public grievances. It is still possible to weaken support for the hate
bill in the minds of the President and Senate and House conferees who will
consider it this fall. If contention between Obama and Congress over "pork"
in the military appropriations/hate bill package increases, Democrat disfavor
toward the hate bill could hasten a Presidential veto.
-
- Follow the example of this California activist and many
others and keep speaking out and praying against the hate bill. In the
five defeats of the hate bill over the past 11 years, God has always helped
a small minority defeat it by sowing confusion in Democrat ranks.
-
- It's time to believe and act as if He can do it again!
