- I strongly suggest that Rense not link to that site about:

- united_nations/news.php?q=1210170368
-
- That is the site that has the article with DISINFORMATION.
-
- There is NOTHING in that bill that would allow the UN
to DisArm Americans!
-
- I pulled down the Senate Bill S2433 directly off the
Library of Congress.
-
-
- There are two versions, the original Dec. 7, 2007, and
then it was re-introduced this year April 24,2008. Obama with Hagel and
Cantwell introduced it on Dec. 7, 2007.
-
- Here are my findings:
-
- Mr. OBAMA (for himself, Mr. HAGEL, and Ms. CANTWELL)
introduced thefollowing bill; which was read twice and referred to the
Committee onForeign Relations

-
- On April, 23, 2008, it was re-introduced by the Senators
listed
- below with corrections, additions, and omissions.

- Mr. OBAMA (for himself, Mr. HAGEL, Ms. CANTWELL, Mrs.
FEINSTEIN, Mr.LUGAR, Mr. DURBIN, Mr. MENENDEZ, Mr. BIDEN, Mr. DODD, Mr.
FEINGOLD, Ms.SNOWE, Mrs. MURRAY, Mr. HARKIN, Mr. JOHNSON, Mr. SMITH, and
Mr. KERRY)introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred
to theCommittee on Foreign Relations
-
- Findings:
-
- No where in either version does it say that the U.S.
will
- give the UN .7% of our GNP.
-
- I have no idea where they are coming up with that !
-
- It does state this, and this already occurred in 2005
talking about
- increasing aid which they already have done by the G8
countries.
- Actually the original U.N. Millienium Declaration started
in 1990
- to combat wolrd hungur and proverty.
-
- At the summit of the Group of Eight (G-8) nations in
July 2005, leaders from all eight participating countries committed to
increase aid to Africa from the current $25,000,000,000 annually to $50,000,000,000
by 2010, and to cancel 100 percent of the debt obligations owed to the
World Bank, African Development Bank, and International Monetary Fundby
18 of the world's poorest nations.
-
- NO WHERE DOES IT TALK ABOUT ANY OF THIS !
-
- The U.S.would be required to surrender some of its sovereignty
over foreign aidby putting it under UN control. The bill would force the
U.S. to sign onto the U.N.'s Millennium Declaration, which would commit
us not only to "banning small arms and lightweapons" but also
to adhere to the International Criminal Court Treatyand the Kyoto Protocol.
-
- The U.N. Millennium Delcaration is simply a 2005 declaration
to provide assistance
- to poor countries, help with HIV in those countries etc.
-
- * NOTE: The 2005 U.N. Millemmium Declaration came about
because of the singer
- BON JOVI who toured Africa and came back and addressed
the U.N. in 2005
- bringing about the commitment of the G8 countries to
provide assistance.
-
- How they are coming up with this I do not know! No where
does it talk about $845 billion....??
-
- We know for a fact that this bill will cost America
$845 billion above an beyond what America already spends on global aid
in the next thirteen years.
-
- The link they have for the $845 billion listed above
links to this site:
- no where in this piece does it mention $845 billion?
-
- Here we go ahead with peple imbleshing things and adding
things.
- Where did they get that figure, pull it out of there
hat? Even if you take .07% of
- our GNP, that is no where near $845 billion. Maybe the
total over the thirteen
- tears but not in one year!
-
- Basically, this is nothing new. This is basically an
extension of the original bills that were passed back in 1990, amended
in 2005 and now this time.
-
- It sounds like some nut jobs out there have added things
that simply are not true about this bill.
-
- So there really isn't anything to report on this. This
is a standard bill
- for aid to fight worldwide hungur and fight poverty worldwide
in developing countries.
- The Senate and House have been passing bills like this
for years.
