Congress Fails In Defense
Of The Nation

Jim Kirwan
2-7-7

The Congress of the United States, in theory, makes up one third of the government. It's primary responsibilities include providing a check on excessive powers in the other two branches, and in that capacity they are responsible for oversight of the administration, and for approving Budget's that must be approved by them-for the entire government to function.

They failed to stop the illegal Supreme Court ruling, in 2000, that in effect appointed George W. Bush to the presidency. After 911, the Congress granted extraordinary powers to the executive that in effect made the executive into a full-blown dictator: as they had effectively ceded their congressional powers to him for the duration of a war that Bush says "shall never end." During the entire time from 2000 up to the present moment the Congress has yet to hold meaningful examinations of any of the things that Cheney-Bush have done or are continuing to do-going forward. These actions by the congress are crimes against those people that they purport to serve, in their capacities as representatives of the people in the Republic of the United States. The USA is not 'a democracy' it is a Republic!

In a democracy the majority rules absolutely. In a Republic all people have a right to their own views, and minority opinion is supposed to be protected from majority rule: this difference is paramount and is the essence that is required to keep a free nation FREE! Congress continues to maintain the fiction that there are two parties working in this so-called system: That is simply not true!
There is no formal opposition, and hasn't been for decades. What there is may look like the congress's of old-but since at least the end of WWII, every year has seen each congress grow ever- further from the actual will of the people, that they were sent to Washington to theoretically represent.

Congress represents the Corporations and the 37,000 lobbyists that pay extra for their time: and that wholeheartedly includes whatever is good for the State of Israel: yet the wishes of American taxpayers are no longer even considered by the congress, as having any real meaning. That is the environment in which the so-called debate on the troop surge is taking place. And as of today, long after Pelosi's "first hundred hours" it appears that the New Congress is exactly the SAME-as-the-old-congress: Thoroughly bought and paid for and definitely NOT there to do the bidding of the people of the United States of America (1)

The current quagmire is over whether or not to even have a debate, about a non-binding resolution against the "decider's" announced troop surge in Iraq. Too many of these fake representatives are trying to term the pending non-binding- resolution as a vote against "supporting the troops." That could easily be fixed! All that needs to be included in the language is the recognition that what is being challenged is not the funding for the troops but the lack of leadership that wants to send those troops straight into certain death for no real reason at all- except to continue the cover that the "Decider" needs to fend off criticism until he can start his third war in this new Millennium.

The language should say: 'This resolution is intended to stop commanding authorities from issuing orders that are and have many- times-over, already proven to have failed. This resolution is aimed at the commanders of our forces, all the way to the Commander-in- Chief, and does not seek to deprive the troops of anything they need: Rather it seeks to keep those troops already there alive, while it seeks to prevent more men and women from going to their certain deaths at the hands of completely incompetent commanders and policies-as can be seen from the last four years of failed warfare!'

As a footnote: both the Congress and the Pentagon, as well as the Commander-in-Chief must take responsibility for following exactly the same course in Baghdad, as did a different American armed force, when the exact-same kinds of collaborative warfare practices (pretending to train and arm the locals to "secure" the country) were used in Saigon, Vietnam. It did not work in 1975 at the conclusion of that twenty-five year war, and it will not work now. Iraq has something like 75% unemployment and starvation and disease are becoming real problems along with the displacement of millions of people. There is virtually no other 'occupation' available to Iraqi's except to join some kind of force, just to stay alive. The fact that neither congress nor the Pentagon seems to find any of that troubling, or even to be a factor in why the war continues to intensify-make clear-some of the fallacies at the heart of this darkness that is called the War-on-Iraq (2).

When the White House announced its new Budget, it contained $1.6 Trillion in domestic cuts for the programs that keep Americans alive, and increases for the Pentagon, the War, and Israel-while seeking to make the obscene "tax-cuts" permanent. "The Decider" promised that only in this way could we obtain a balanced budget somewhere down the road. You don't have to have a degree in economics to figure out that this Budget is just more Snake-Oil and worth nothing at all to the national dialogue.

What needs to happen is that those previous tax-breaks need to be retroactively reversed, and the money needs to go into reparations for the war, to be paid to the displaced, the wounded, and the families of the innocent dead. New, War-Profits-Taxes need to be levied on all those corporations that have profited massively from this unilateral and illegal war. The amount of the taxes ought to be drawn from a large percentage of their questionable War-profits- according to the degree of transparency provided to the public: The more secret the contracts, the higher the taxes ought to be. Funds to continue the War should be cut to the minimum needed to extract the troops and to provide for the humanitarian assistance needed for the NGO's to begin to rebuild both the people and the country of Iraq. Maybe some new people here might be able to find some diplomats that haven't been involved in mass murders in this or the previous decades, to represent US, and oversea the corrections needed, to begin to correct what USA incorporated has done to the Middle-East. Of course none of this will happen power never willingly surrenders its powers: but at least it is clear that something has to change for all those people (both here and there) who want their countries back!

On the budget-a key to understanding just what a total failure looks like is-is the cost of treating the wounded. That figure translates now to sixteen wounded for every death reported. The costs of treatment alone will run from $350 to $700 billion: and as soon as light-on-the-debate is over, 'the decider' will begin to slash the hell out of those military benefits, just as he has been doing all along.
This is not part of "the costs of the war" for a so-called president who thinks that the only thing he needs to worry about is more weapons and mercenaries, and, he intends to pay for that by slashing every social program that congress ever authorized- especially those that affect the truly needy!

The issues that this masquerade that calls itself the Congress must deal with now are fundamental to the rights and liberties of all Americans, and unless the crimes against the people are reversed by congress, then we should just send congress home and cut-out the middlemen by using AIPAC directly, instead of relying on the second- hand-hacks who are posing as American congressmen and women. Yes it has come to that-and no it cannot wait, or be postponed for another week or two or
To whenever, the corrupt leadership in congress decides to allow this issue to be heard (3).

For this nation to have gone for nearly six years without any congressional oversight whatsoever, lays it all out "on the table" as politicians are so fond of saying. The public should give their politicians the same harsh treatment that these imposters have been giving others now for the last six years. We should assume their guilt unless they can easily prove their innocence. There are perhaps a few dozen who have tried mightily to do their jobs, and their efforts are easy to see, just as the efforts of those who thwarted them, cannot really remain a secret. Maybe a committee might want to ask Cheney why his financial holdings are not in this country! Or some might want to delve into the backgrounds of some of those perennially present members of the "old-guard" that simply refuse to die. There also needs to be a limit on presidential pardons for criminals, especially when those being pardoned actually worked directly for the one giving the pardons. America has the filth of decades to clean-up the background video speaks to some of this-but the whole truth is far larger (4)

?Everyone in that group that's wedded to corporate plunderings seems to know the price of everything and the value of nothing. And these are the people that we have allowed to wreck the environment, to destroy the value of diplomacy, and to erase the nation states that once held so much of humanity together. In today's world the North-American-Union is about to become a fact. That involves dissolving the borders between Canada, the USA and Mexico; you can see the fragments of all three in this preliminary logo. The dollar will become the Amero, and all of that without being brought anywhere near public opinion. It's not scheduled for a vote in congress, and it won't be a part of any campaign platform because we're not supposed to know -until it "happens." Google NAU, there's enough there to see this TREASON in its infancy-and to begin to challenge this one-unless you don't mind losing this nation literally!

About the only escape clause from this obviously impossible decent into the labyrinth, might be something like this: Each congress is theoretically different from it predecessors. So if this congress were to suddenly discover the testosterone to challenge the current status quo-then maybe that might be enough to begin to turn the tide back to being a nation in our own right again: Maybe not!

One thing is clear, we cannot go on with business as usual, and we must stop this war, before the two we have morphs into three. Sorting out the crimes committed all round seems far too big to tackle now, but with performance as a guide, a great deal could still be accomplished.

Israel's influence must be SHUT DOWN and investigations into her behavior beginning with the Attack on the USS Liberty must be undertaken-or we need to all be granted Israeli citizenship, since it's our money anyway! A start in this direction might begin with turning back that obscenity that is pending in congress now; the one that seeks to grant protection to Israel from scrutiny by anyone who has questions about that countries so-called history. No other nation on this earth has ever tried to classify the knowledge of its own history as a punishable offense with prison-terms for anyone outside their own country, anyone that dares to question, the supposed international historical record. So watch the clip below and ask yourself if this man's 'cause' is just, or is it just another cover-story for yet another power grab at the expense of the rest of the world (5).

Congress has FAILED, no question about that-now it's up to us!
