The Season Of Taking
By Jim Kirwan

"Everybody knows the clock is ticking but nobody knows the time"!

The 'Season of Sharing' has drawn to a close as we now return to the 364 days in The Season of Taking. Nearly six years have elapsed in this time-warp that has made its blood-drenched way toward impending total war: yet the planet still waits upon those final moments that will finally tell us all-what time it really is.

What has been lost and what is left to lose remains shrouded in mystery, for the most part. Thanks to so many investigative articles by hundreds of writers and photo-journalists we now know a great deal more about the history of this world than most of us could ever have imagined before this nightmare began. What we do now know is that we have been told only lies-but more importantly those lies have been enabled and perpetuated by the vast majority of all the politicians from both parties. And we know that to this day 'The Decider' has stonewalled all the real questions that he said justified all that we did militarily.

Here is some of what Robert Fisk has so clearly pointed out about the real complexities that are involved in what the US has been doing since we turned everything over to the Decider! (4)

America needs to take-back its government, its laws and its seemingly long forgotten code of ethics. There was a unique opportunity that was missed back in early October, when Forward Base Falcon was destroyed and 319 military and civilian contractors were killed in a single attack that lasted for three days. Had news of those deaths reached the American public then-before the November elections; then the anger in America would have risen well above the abilities of the dark-powers to contain or shape that vote. The elections could have mandated that politicians end the excessive privileges they granted to the Decider, when congress surrendered their constitutional responsibilities, to the Decider, before the wars even began.

By canceling that illegal permission to slaughter any and all that opposed us-the congress could   now have easily cut the funding for the wars and 'taken-back' the troops which would have been a true reflection of the will of the American public-had the public only known about the deaths of the 319 back in October. (1).

This war has lasted longer than WWII, and what do we have to show for it? In Iraq we demonstrated the Twenty-First Century American version of the Nazi Blitzkrieg-when we used Shock & Awe on Iraq. Our military purpose was to savagely bomb Baghdad and to follow that up with an indiscriminate and inhumane slaughter of the civilian population. The goal was to intimidate not just Iraq and Iraqi's but to show the whole world how powerful we were and how brutal we could be. The bombings led to the seizure of Baghdad, but as time passed the massive fear we sought to instill began to turn to hatred and revenge, as more and more Iraqi's began to demand that the occupation forces leave Iraq. Still the Decider persisted ignoring any facts that disagreed with either his preferred outcome or with "Staying the Course." (2)

When the war first began questions were asked "How Many Lives Will it Cost to do this?" At least now, with the death of Saddam apparently imminent, at least some of those questions can be partially answered. The Lancet in England says that over 600,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed. We know that tens of thousands of allied men and women have been severely damaged or maimed, along with at least 3,000 that the government admits have been killed. We know that the deaths of our troops are still secret, so we know that we don't really know how many died-as in those 319 that no group has seen fit to investigate fully. What we also know for certain is that the lives of our men and women have been badly used and abused by their commanders, but especially by their own government and no amount of spin will ever change that fact: That is why all who served there have been awarded the combat infantry badge to mark the differences between this war and all others, for Americans!

The US Dollar has just been surpassed by the Euro-which the Media actually reported as a beauty contest between the two currencies: having forgotten to mention that this FACT might have a major impact on everything economic in the USA for generations to come. What else have we lost-just the financial foundation of the country along with our place in the world as a nation that once meant what it said and frequently actually stood for something besides banditry, thuggery and the nearly total supremacy of the Multi-national Corporate States that seem to have taken over too many national decisions and services (3).

The Decider is still languishing down at 'the ranch' on another of his interminable 'vacations' while he "considers" how he plans to deal with denying the pulse of this nation, while he plans to shove even-more-war down the collective throats of the entire world. In the coming "Season of Taking" Americans need to take back the power of their own voices and stop putting up with all the various masks of treason, of hypocrisy, of murder, of torture, and of betrayal that has come to stand for what America is now all about! The clock keeps ticking; but how many really want to know the time?
