We're Burning
By Jim Mortellaro

Somebody put it out before it goes out of control!

The world is a bucket of sh*t with the handles on the inside. Wow, what a wonderfully descriptive thought. I have them all the time, which is what makes me such a great sillyfossifer. No need to brag, no need to say it out loud or shout it from the rooftops. All's I gotta do is write.  Brilliant I am.

Unfortunately, the state of both our union and the state of the world is appropriately defined by that very first sentence. And there is little we the sheeple can do about it. Governments throughout the globe have usurped the democratic principals on which most of them were founded. They've taken from us, everything they can steal. The result is a world filled with chaos, war and rumors of war.

That last sentence is a construct from the words which Mary, the mother of Jesus The Virgin Mary used them describe the last days. Whatever that means. At no other time in our history has our world been so accurately defined. At no other time in the history of the world, has every nation, every country, every peoples, been in danger of being intimately involved in a struggle for it's very existence.

A secretary I used to know had a saying. "It's a great life. As long as you don't give in."  Well, maybe, just maybe, it's time to give in.

As we write this, the situation in the Middle East is about to blow up into something we all prefer not to see happen. The far east is in a similar although less 'likely to blow now' condition. The Americas are seeing an influx of insanity vis a vis illegal entry into our countries. That is to say, north America, including Canada and the USA. From south of the border of the USA, the situation is reversed. People there are entering the USA and Canada in droves. Mostly the USA.

Our administration is doing not one dot to prevent this influx of humanity. All too many of those leaving Mexico, Central and South America are not what we would accept under normal conditions. Many are the dregs of humanity, if you wish to even use the word 'humanity.'  The USA now has for the first time in a generation, a serious increase in certain types of crime. There is more violence in cities and towns throughout the USA than ever before. And this condition affects not merely large urban areas. It includes small towns and villages.

Gangs from the West Coast of the USA are expanding on the East Coast. In lieu of being welcomed by large cities such as New York, Boston and Philadelphia, these gangs are settling in smaller towns. Even villages. In upstate New York for example, and for reasons which continue to elude, these vicious and deadly gangs are establishing base operations in out of the way communities north of New York City. Mayor Blumburg is happier than a clam, but people in normally safe, clean and stable communities north, are in a most horrific situation.

Small towns are seeing murder, rape and repeated gun related violence where prior to year 2000, there was nothing at all to worry over. In fact, people never locked their doors up in areas close to MortyVille. Why these gangs are here as opposed to New York is a small enigma. I've heard some of these dangerous gang members, which btw have an average age of 14.8 years, say they are safer and more free up here. However in these sub suburban towns, they stick out like a sore thumb. Go figger.

So the bulk of responsibility in many respects is now in the hands of local and where applicable, New York State Police. And both entities are already at the legal limit of fund availability. In other words, budgets are not prepared for the added huge expense in managing crime illegals are committing. That in turn means higher taxes for residents already buried knee deep in taxes, with little opportunity to make up the shortfall. This in order to pay for the addition of more police officers and equipment.

Between fuel price increases, property tax increases, school and local government as well as state tax increases and now added taxing for local and state police organizations, citizens are in a serious financial bind. There is simply no money left with which to enjoy a little of life's pleasures such as vacations or whatever. We owe, we owe, so off to second and third jobs we go. And that includes Mommy.

People are hard pressed financially and it shows in their comportment. It shows in road rage and in countless other ways. It shows on the job as well. In fact, this huge financial bind in which citizens find themselves is creating other problems, all of which are making life a lot harder to live.

There is no way one may budget for these increases, as they come one atop the other quite unexpectedly. God knows, whenever I get in my car and drive to the gas station, it is another surprise (or shock) to my pocketbook. Gas used to be about 20% of the local state police budget. It is now more than 40% of the budget.

Troopers in our barracks fill up at a large service station (I suppose I am showing my age by using the words, 'service station,' as there is no service, just fill up the tank, sign a loan agreement on your house and leave), troopers fill up and thank God they don't have to foot the bill. On the one hand.

On the other hand, we all know that there is unlikely to be a decent wage increase next year. This ain't the Humongoid International Everything Company, Inc. This is a paramilitary police organization and there ain't no union. It turns out that everyone is unhappy about the current situation and all as a result of the fact that our government is not doing squat about fixing it for us. Government of, by and for the people? Yeah. Sure. The check is in the mail and "Don't worry, sweetheart, I'm sterile!"

The point of this exercise is to state clearly, that everyone and every thing in our lives is upset. The problems are like a fire. One thing feeds on another until the entire entity is ablaze. And this includes our children.

Mom and Dad are forced to work and the kids are forced to be kids. Meaning that with no or very little supervision, young people are going to do whatever they wish whenever they wish. The result is chaos yet again among out nation's youth.

We are at an impasse. Unless and until we take control of our lives and our governance, we are lost. Our way of life, our happiness and our very future (which depends on our children) are up for grabs by the highest bidder. The highest bidder is not good for us. We are headed for the last roundup. America is lost to Americans. Which leads us to another conclusion.

We have so many enemies which heretofore were perceived by us to be our friends that we are facing annihilation from abroad. Russia. China. Mid east countries. Terror. All are vying for American power. And what better way to obtain American power than to destroy it from within? No better way at all.

From one problem to many. That is the story of life in America. We let it happen. We are the problem and we should be the solution.

November is a short time away. It'll be upon us in no time at all. For heaven sake, use your vote and use it wisely. Don't throw it away and don't not vote. To do anything but vote for the right person is a crime against our humanity.

Life's bad enough as it is for us to make it worse.
