- It's a good question. This nation has changed and evolved
over 200 years. How relevant is the religious underpinnings of the founders
of this country today? Evidence would suggest that modern interpretations
of the founders and their intentions are considerably skewed today...

As you walk up the steps to the building which houses the U.S. Supreme
Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the world's law
givers and each one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward with
a full frontal view ... it is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments.

How relevant is this piece with :Origin Unknown - Circulating the Net"?
-
- Not very relevant, according to the Snopes Urban Legend
website:
- _http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/capital.asp_
-
- The Madison quote is bogus, the Patrick Henry quote
is bogus, and the whole thrust of the piece is misguided. Many Internet-circling
quotes are bogus; some from Founding Fathers that "prove" the
USA is a Xtian nation, Julius Caesar's notorious bogus quote, and the
bogus quote from the bogus book by Alexander Tytler. Just because some
Founding Fathers actually did write private letters in which they expressed
pro-Christian sentiments, the fact remains that there is NOTHING in our
laws which promotes, prefers, or defends Christianity. Our nation is under
the RULE OF LAW, not the rule of private sentiments. There are, in fact,
laws which prohibit the promotion, preference, or defense of ANY religion
at the national level. And there is even one national law which clearly
states out that "the government of the United States of America is
not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion"- the treaty of
Tripoli, which became U.S. law on 10 June 1797: _http://secular.embassyofheaven.com/usa/tripoli.htm_
-
- The Judeo-Christian heritage may or may not be relevant
to America, but it is certainly NOT relevant to our government, and many
who read articles like this will unconsciously link the two in their minds.

Though I found most of the quotes to be erroneous (not uncommon), it should
be rather apparent just from the physical evidence alone, as demonstrated
in the images, that our nation was both founded upon and boldly reflected
a Judeo-Christian heritage which none of the framers of the Constitution,
none of the founding fathers and no one else in high government even questioned
for well over a hundred years, even those who were not of the Christian
faith. They took no offense and saw no problem with our government buildings
honoring religious figures or even Biblical truths. They did not see this
as a violation of the separation of church and state, because it isn't
a violation. This is something the ultra-secularists simply can't work
around because it's etched in granite. They'll have to one by one remove
all those magnificent historic artifacts in order to foster a lie they
want to be the truth -- and that won't work. It is abundantly evident the
founders sought to protect religion from government, not government from
religion. Their only focus was to make certain there would never be a church-state.
-
- That did not mean stripping the government of all religious
references or impressions, clearly! They managed to see the co-existent
elements as complimentary. Some people cannot see this today because they
have been cohersed and brainwahsed into abject hostility against the Christian
faith -- but this country wouldn't be here if it were not for the Christian
faith. It's just that simple.
-
- It's a proud and honorable heritage and one that should
not be shunned for fear of a 'church-state.' That's not going to happen,
unless the Constitution is entirely tossed into the garbage heap. Unfortunately,
those who rabidly seek to rip all Judeo-Christian references, icons and
impressions from government buildings, money and practices are doing more
to see the Constitution devalued than anyone else, because they have no
respect for it at all. The have a "new" Constitution in mind,
which will replace the "old," and a new world order for everyone
to march in locked boot-step.
Christmas is a federal holiday. That is a specific religion being recognized,
officially, by the federal government. Government workers are given the
day off. Why? In order to violate the constitution? On the contrary, to
'establish' it! "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment
of religion, nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof," clause made
manifest in the most sound and excellent way. The government may honor
any religion, it simply cannot operate according to any given religion.
